MSdash / Watch DVD OR NOT!!?!?!?

Ive got an Xecuter 2.6 on my v1.4, ive got the evox dash and im loving playing all my backups straight from the hard drive. ( i dont ever have to get out of bed anymore). Only problem is if i want to watch an original DVD it doesnt work. Im guessing you dont need a media player to play it, and also when i turn my chip off i get FRAGGING AND if i try to switch to msdashboard from evox it just dumps me back to evox again. Have i fudged it up somehow. (im thinking it could be my msdash.xbe)? Any ideas would be much appreciated as i cant find a thread on any of the forums with a problem the same as mine. Right now i going back to bed so i can wash myself with a rag-on-a-stick!

why dont you get DVDX2 so you can use the controller.....and stuff

theres dvd-dongle free or something like that too. i have dvdx2, and that thing and more. i have ever only used it once though. get one of them.

also your original ms dash shouldnt be labeled msdash.xbe but instead xboxdash.xbe

If that was your problem I would think you would get some kind of error code displayed on the tv and not just returned to evox.


Also how are you even disabling the modchip in order to go back to the ms dash without gettin out of bed?

Your evox.ini must be wrong, my evox.ini's "launch msdash" code is msxboxdash.xbe. If it's set to xboxdash.xbe, it will go to evo x because xboxdash.xbe and yboxdash.xbe on mine are both evo x.
Go into boxplorer, press A on each dash, find out what they are, then ftp your evox.ini file to your pc, open it with notepad, and change the settings for "launch msdash" to the correct filename. Then delete the old one after ftping the new one to a new folder on your xbox, then cut and paste it into the c drive.

My XBOX frags when the chip is disabled because the hdd is unlocked, even locking it with evo-x doesn't work so you have the same problem as my XBOX has there.

ok dont rename your dash files leave the M$ xboxdash.xbe the same and evox as evoxdash.xbe your bios should load evoxdash first not the M$ one.

look at your evox.ini and check the line that says MSdashboard and see what xbe it pointing at and make sure that is the name of your MS dash.

well i dont know what a dongle is but the thing about the xboxdash was right. just had to edit the evox.ini to have the name i renamed msdash to.
So whats a dongle, ive got something called dvd2x but i havent installed it yet. is this the thing that plays dvds? du huh? im going back to bed.

Thanks, pleasure to help you mate. I think the dongle is the "DVD Playback Kit" remote and reciever that you can buy to use the msdash to play dvd's.
