I've been reading the tutorials on flashing the firmware and I just bought a new SATA card last night. It is a PCI SATA Card and it has a VIA chip on it. But when I run xtreme Boot Maker and select the SATA card it says it is not MTKFlash compatable! I have an Intel Pentium 4 processor on a Dell computer and it is a brand new PCI SATA card, so why wont it work?? Please help!

check your drivers, find via 5.50b drivers. i have them posted somewhere around here, or you could just google it.

It's not the driver (SATA port) that isn't compatable. The compuer reads the PCI card, but when i select teh PCI card on boot maker/or Iprep, it says that my card doesn't support the MTKFlash. The PCI card I have is one I got at Tigerdirect and it's the...Vantec SATA PCI Host Card, here is the picture/site.http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1082348&CatId=1455
>>>So is that the wrong card, do I need a different kind or what? I'm completely new at this so I'm not too sure what you meant about checking the driver, but explain that if you think that's the problem. Thanks.

that link is for a sata card with a Silicon Image chip, not a VIA. http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm cofree uses this one and it works for him. i use this one from newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132012

what i mean by drivers is, the software that will allow your sata card to work properly. http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/vraid_driver_v550b.zip
download and install, do NOT install the RAID Utility. if you need anymore help just let us know

Yeah i figured that out, that it was the wrong link. I was at school and just googled one. But I found out mine is the one tha is recommended on here somewhere the VIA VT6....something like that. But I got MTKFlash to read it, I think I didn't have it pushed into the PCI port all the way. But I installed the RAID Tool and I see you said don't install....so what to do about that? And i tried using IPrep and XBM, but when I get to the "select drive" all it shows is 1.Master 2.Slave. So it doesn't show my card and I tried pressing ESC and redoing it over and over, but it never reads the card. I'm going to update the driver with that zip you posted and try to uninstall the RAID Tool. But let me know what else. Ohh and my other problem... My computer has USB ports, but cannot boot from them, so do you know where I can get that NTFS4 or something, that file needed to burn onto the disc to make the ISO image? or another way to do it??
