GENERAL MXIC/Winbond help

I have a bit or a problem. Tonight I flashed a mates slim with unlock pcb, everything went well. When I dumped the firmware off his original board i noticed it was an MXIC chipset. I updated the dashboard and when i finished i plugged the stock pcb back in and jungle flasher now registers it as a winbond. I definately have not made a mistake as have checked the logs.

Is this right?

Here are the steps I took.

1 the xbox to start is pre 13599 LT 1.91 9504
2 flashed back to 9504 stock - drive reports as MXIC
3. updated to 13599 dash
4 .removed stock pcb
5. installed unlock pcb - fine.
6. Plugged stock pcb back in to PC and now JF reporting as winbond.

Any ideas?

This is a strange one. Have you tried the usual MXIC unlock methods (Sputnik Probe/Switch)? I wouldn't worry too much about it if you already flashed the drive but I would test the drive with one of the Sputnik Unlock methods to make sure it still unlocks OK.

You have not read my question clearly, this has nothing to do with the unlocked PCB its the stock pcb which has changed from MXIC to Winbond. please read questions clearly before trying to answer.

Have you tried the usual MXIC unlock methods (Sputnik Probe/Switch)?

It has got to be worth a try hasn't it?

Ok you didnt say that originally as you have edited your first post, but yes I have tried the russian method and drive wont unlock.

easiest way to find out is to check the ic for 03 or 05 no firmware will ever be able to change the physical make of the ic

your drive was winbond and you prob got mixed up mate.
