Um... well, I guess if you're a complete noobie, we can't completely blame you for not knowing these sights, so here they are. Learn them; love them. They are the bread and butter for XBox modders.

http://www.xbox-scene.com/tutorials.php
The noobie guide offered on the teamxecuter home page.

These have all the information you should ever need unless you encounter a major problem that needs troubleshooted. Here's the other piece of advice, when people are talking about, "the usual places," they mean XBins. Learn to love that as well. Happy moddings! :)

Depends on the voltage. Either use Ohm's law, or use an online LED calculator.

Hope your soldering is better than your typing :D

Not much you can do without a mod chip ... read the forums (both here and over at xbox-scene). Look past the BS that floats around between Xecuter and Xenium mod chip users - we all know Xenium are full of crap :) ...

Retailers for the X3 chip are on the front page. Balbouncer is probably the best for you in the UK.

Good luck - plenty of poms on the forums here. Avoid sarcasm. Americans just don't get it and you'll just piss them off faster.

Hard to say ... you have your location in Orlando, but that means nothing. I'm an Aussie living in North Carolina ... regardless, I was call mist a pom.

Could be worse - could call you a Kiwi ;)

why thnks call me a limey it sounds beter. my typing all ways been baaaad. & my fisrt solder job went oki i did controller port lights last night couldnt be botherd with hot glue gun to hold lights (too xpensive atm so use some glue an electricitian give me :) will glue when i get gun tho!)(Only got solder on my hands not on the xbox damn it hurts atm lolz)

ALSO
i looked at some pics online at teh insides of xbox and how to take apart.

modt pics show taht hdd and dvd drives are seperate mine seems to be all in one peice... Also need to know version number, or are there mod chips just for crystal version? (my clock when i turn on for first time read 2001)

Thanks

If you don't know for sure, you can experiment. Begin by temporary connecting two 100 Ohm resister in series (if you're wiring the LEDs in parallel). Turn it on. If they don't light up, then it's too much resistance. Remove one. If the LEDs are too dim or don't turn on, then begin connecting the resistors in parrellel. It was begin to reduce resistance to less then 100 ohms. Go figure. Keep on doing this until you LEDs are as bright as you need. If they stop lighting up as you reduce resistance, then you've gone too far. :) That's what you do if you don't remember the exact voltage.

100 is fine they are nice n bright :D

also on the lid (inside) i have taken my metal thing off, the holes which used to holt it on i have put some red and blue LEDs in them, Just wondering weather i should put the metal plate back on over the top? and wheather or not the heat from the leds and resistors will be too much for hdd?

Nope, LEDs are very efficient (unlike lightbulbs, which only, like, 25% of their output energy is in visible light format). The produce almost no heat. There won't be a problem. As far as the RF shielding goes:
I didn't put it back in mine. I'm not operating mine under a television set with a radio tuner nearby or anything. It's really up to you; I'd recommend putting it back in if you are using the XBox in an entertainment center, but wouldn't bother if you are using it elsewhere.
