HITACHI NON-79 My DVD drive won't do anything

Hey guys I have a Hitachi 0059dj and when I go to open the disk tray the only thing that happens is the green home light blinks once and nothing happens.

What can i do to fix this or can i not do anything?

Do you hear the disk tray attempting to open like if its jammed? What's the history of the console?

Needs a new drive opening belt can pick them up for hardly anything on eBay

Just put the drive belt in boiling water for a minute, dry it off and reinstall. If that doesn't work order a new one. Like it was said, they can be picked up cheap from places like eBay.

Sometimes its not the drive belt, sometimes the motor. Might as well replace the whole drive.

Why not eliminate the cheaper option before jumping to a more expensive one? It only takes a minute to determine if it's the drive belt that's the problem.

Dont go replacing the whole drive before you test the belt

I meant after you test the belt, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Clean the belt and also the cogs with rubbing alcohol and see if that works. If not you'll need to replace the motor as was mentioned above.
