My first RGH box ...and now problems

This is my first ever RGH attempt

The box is a Jasper 256 MB nand (PHAT)
My dashboard version is 14699

This is the steps that I did it in:

1. Since I forgot to buy the Nand-X to coolrunner cable I have programed the coolrunner using the LPT cable and the program Impact. I think this went well ?!?!

2. The soldering in the box was done using the QS boards and the 3 wires on the back.

Now to the BIG problem, when I try to read the nand I get a error in Jtag tool:

Looking for usb interface device
Can not continue
Press any key to continue...

Also if I try to start the Xbox nothing happens, the only thing alive in the box is the coolrunner chip (red led)

From reading a lot in the forum I think you are going to tell me to resolder everything and that's what I have done.

My biggest concern is that the Xbox is dead.

The next thing I might try is to solder the wires directly to the board, hope some one can help me a little bit here :)

What a great day now my multimeter won't change to ohm.

But when I plug in the power supply I get 0.011V on the B point

Is that 1.1v? If so then you have a problem with STBY_CLK

Whats the voltage on resistor above? It should definately be 1.8v

No that's 0.011V on top of the resistor :D

So I guess I have to desolder the QuickSolderBoard and have a look if I have shortened the to point under ?

Do you think this is fixable ?

Yes you could have bridged the capacitor pads underneath QSB.

Not that difficult to fix:)

I did bridge them when I was preparing the point but I thought that I removed it.

Thank for good advice, I will take a little walk now and then have a look =)

I got everything working BUT during the read of the nand there was some smoke from my soldering. I forgot to clean off the flux. So during the nand read I pulled the power and now the Xbox won't boot.

This is the end of it right ??

Wow...!:eek2:

And you cant read nand?

Maybe you have to do a 5v mod to read nand again.

Yes wow!!! :)

During the nand read I started having many errors, and after a while there was some smoke between the NAND solder points. I pulled the power right away!!!

5v mod...?

Now I'm starting to hope again. Link and maybe some more tips ?

(my son is not to happy right now)

And the NAND can't be read with jtag tool or nandpro 3.0

An nothing happens when I press ON :(

Yes it could be that your nand has shorted out.

This is a 5v mod:

You need an external 5v power source. Solder red wire to capacitor C2E6 and ground wire to a ground point.
Look at the picture.

Hopefully you will able to read nand then.

OBS OBS BE SURE THAT YOUR POWER BRICK IS NOT CONNECTED TO CONSOLE.

So I cut of a normal USB cable and solder it like in the picture, and then I power it from my laptop USB port ?

Exactly.

Maybe you should check that you have any standby power in your console first. If you dont then your console is dead and this 5v mod wont help.

Will try this tomorrow then. Just did a quick test and I have 1.6 V on the B pad on the cool runner.
And the red diod is on when plugged in so I guess I can hope for the best . :)
