so how long should it take to install pin headers? 10 mins? well i got the iron out (20watt) and new desolder braid and for the life of me could not get all the holes to open up after a long time i had the pin headers in and soldered on the pins that required it. conected front daughter board, power supply in and nandx installed (two lights on) fired uo the jtag tool and get the message that it couldnt detect the device, quick read of forum says its my soldering. 2 hours later having checked every joint using close up blown up photos and multi meter still no joy. So i put the dam thing back together (boots and runs fine dash 6 something) and ill sell the damm thing, time to move onto box two and use qsb's this time
is it deffo naff soldering?

Most likely mate. If you had trouble with the pin headers then you may with the qsbs aswell. Got some of those pics to look at?

good luck with the qsb's, some of the holes can be a arse to do from time to time. Generally I find it tends to be the ground points.

In the jtag tool did you install the xnand drivers?

Get the smallest tip available for that iron it make a world of difference, some of the holes are not quite filled with solder which make it hard to soak up the solder. With a smaller tip you can push the tip through the hole pushing the solder to the other side of the board making it easier to use the desoldering braid.

Re: my head hurts part 2

#1 Turn on the jtag switch
#2 Check your connections for bridging E73 is ethernet related not dvd drive issue.
#3 Post a pictures of your boards installation
#4 What type of motherboard is this installed on?
#5 You need to repair the nand (because of the error)

Re: my head hurts part 2

ok xell boots and got cpu key, do i still need to fix 250 error bad block?

Re: my head hurts part 2

Try making a freeBOOT image without remapping the block. Hopefully it will work, but if it doesn't, then do it the other way.

Or just use Jtag Tool...

Re: my head hurts part 2

made freeboot immage and loaded it, lots of error 280 reports, box boots to new logo but stops with central green led flashing, ill try to fix nand and remake fb, or re install original nand and load xellous

Re: my head hurts part 2

well second flash reported no errors and it all booted up fine, now to instal fsd, well to hunt down a tut anyway!

Re: my head hurts part 2

Have fun with your Jtag! ;)

If you want, you can have a look in the Homebrew section to get started with FSD and XeXMenu etc.

OK then, since everything is sorted...
