So happy that it worked. I've never soldered to a PCB before, so it was a little scary. I took my time, and ordered the right tools for the job (NAND-X, Rosin Flux) and it went smoothly.

I only have XELL and Freeboot installed now, as I am waiting for a 2nd gen GPU heat sink to arrive but now it's time to learn how to do everything else, FreestyleDash and XEXMenu.

One question I have now is about how I set it up to run without the DVD Player. I know there is an option in JTAG Tool, but do I create another Freeboot image with the option on "no" and then flash over?

Finally thank you so much Team XECUTER and members here who helped and provided kick ass TUTS. To think I purchase my first XBOX Slim in FEB and now I have a JTAG'd XENON, another XENON with a flashed HITACHI, and the slim is waiting on the release of the PCB replacement.

THANKS AGAIN!!!

Here was a quick pic with my phone. Not too bad for the first time!

Yes, to run freeboot with no DVD drive you need to tick the 'No DVD' option even though now that is being offered with more tools and not just Jtag Tool such as Freeboot Tool Box by Bestpig and Easy Freeboot.

Why not create freeboot, flash it and test it to see if it works then put the console aside until your replacement heat sinks arrives? At least then you don't have to wait any longer and can just fire it up and start enjoying homebrew straight away.

I might actually, but I wanted to make sure that I didn't need it for anything before hand. I just downloaded freeboot by bestpig now so I need to figure out how to use it. It seems easier just to use JTAG tool, but if this is the better program, then I'll use it.

Thanks

Yes I have protected the fuses. I bridged the two points. Thank you though.

@manwithoutname, with bestpig's tool I don't see an option to check "no dvd", does it automatically do it?

I actually already have that, is that the best one to use?

So I tried to write the new freeboot Image over the old one, only this time with the no dvd option checked. It booted, but it is giving me a flashing center light.

Ok, maybe it doesn't live. E79 error. Time to reflash original nand and see what is up.

Back to original nand. I never baked it when I got the Xecuter RROD Pro Kit, so I'm guessing it was just a normal RROD. Baking it now. If that doesn't work then I guess it's off to someone for a reball.

Edit*

OK back in business, now trying to flash Freeboot again w/o dvd

Well I can't get it to stop flashing without the dvd drive in place. Tried 2 different jumpers and no dice. I'm going to do some searching tomorrow at work so I can see if there is an alternative.

Formating a 320GB to FAT32 is going to take a while!!
