Hi guys,

I'm definitely a noob to this forum and to Xbox modding. A friend of mine recently modded my Xbox and I've been enjoying playing all the old NES, Genesis and Snes emulators for the past week.

So I tried to play a regular (Yeah, not burned. I actually paid for it. Can you believe it?) game in my Xbox today. I have an Xecuter 2.6 CE chip in a version 1 Xbox.

I turned on the Xbox, put the game in, and clicked “Launch Game or DVD from DVD rom drive.” The game kind of loaded, but was choppy and froze on me. So I turned off the Xbox to retry it. When I did that my bios screen loaded as usual, but when I tried to press on “Launch Game or DVD from DVD rom drive,” nothing would happen.

So I turned off my Xbox again and this time I turned off the mod chip on the switch the Xecuter 2.6 has. So the chip was off, the flash was off and it turned on ok and went to the original green Xbox dashboard that unmodded Xboxs have. It sat there for a few seconds and it popped up saying that the disk cannot be read, please put in an Xbox game or DVD movie.

I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Is there a certain way to play real Xbox games on an Xecuter 2.6 CE with the switch? Did my friend do something wrong in modding it? Another friend has am Xecuter where you have to hold the power button for it to override the mod chip. I tried that, even though I knew my chip didn’t work like that, to no avail.

Sorry for the long post. I just want to know how to play regular Xbox games. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

- Johnny

P.s. Sorry if this has already been addressed. There's just so many posts that it's hard to find exactly what I'm looking for.

Have you tried different games? If you still gets the same error messages with different dvd games then it's more like a DVD Drive problem. Try swapping the dvd drive (that is if you have another xbox available).

You don't have to do anything different to play a game on your modded Xbox. Did you have any dirty disc errors before your friend modded it? Push the eject button and take a close look at your DVD drive tray. Does it look different than it did before? If so, your friend swapped DVD drives on you, and you got the short end of the stick.
