Xbox 360 will only power on with faceplate off?

Hi A friend of mine has a system that when he puts the faceplate back on it turns his system off. Here's what happens:

"I can have the system working without the faceplate but when I put it on it wont turn on with the eject button or the power button and if I put it on with the xbox powered on it shuts off."

Anyone have any Ideas on why this is happening? It's the original White Faceplate.

sounds like he was pressing the power button while the face plate was off and now it is bent out of its original position and holding the power button, try grinding down the stud that presses the power button and see if that helps.
