Hello Everyone! This is my first post, so . . . please go easy on me. I've had cause to install 4 X3s, for myself, my roommate's brother, my brothers' and myself again.

I got my XBOX in 2002, and after coming to the US and being exposed to the world of modding, decided to give it a go. My XBOX V1.0 or 1.1, not sure now, had the holes filled, so I had to take out the solder, blah blah. Anyway, it was a success! No glitches whatsover.

My roommate decided to get his brother an X3 for Christmas, and seen as I was successful at my first attempt, entrusted me to install his brothers' chip. Fortunately, it was a V1.2, so . . . I didn't have to suck out any solder. I just soldered the pin header in, and attached all the necessary cables, put everything back in, plugged the XBOX in and . . . . SMOKE!!!!!!!

I had no idea what went wrong, but after that, the XBOX decided not to come on anymore. Anyway, so as not to ruin his brother's Christmas, I gave my roommate my XBOX (exchanged cases, of course, seen as mine was older). I was fortunate enough to be able to sell the Motherboard + Power Supply on eBay for a decent fee. It appeared decent at the time, because at consolexperts.com, they seemed to have great deals on used XBOX Motherboards and Power Supply Units. Turns out they aren't in business anymore.

I had planned to chip my brothers' XBOX as well for Christmas, but this recent event had put a serious dent in my confidence. The installation, however was a success (probably because I obtained one of hte finest soldering irons I have ever come accross). That left my success rate at 66.66%.

I got back to school after the break, and decided to get a new mobo and psu off eBay. The Mobo was fine, and seen as the 3rd Party switchable Power Supply Unit was much cheaper than an OEM one, I decided to go for it. The only trouble is that the XBOX only powers on after 3 attempts. All attempts to contact the sellers proved fruitless, so . . . yet again, I had to shell out $$ for my XBOX and get a v1.0-1.1 PSU. I have a v1.4 mobo, but I got (from llama.com) an adapter kit to transform a v1.0-1.1 psu to a v1.2-1.4 psu.

Anyway, I still had the X3 from the botched job, so, I decided to install it into my 'new' xbox, only to find that in my whole misadventure, I had misplaced the D0/LAN/HDD Cable. I purchased a Xapt3r, seen as I couldn't find the cable online, and since it eliminates the need for such a wire, but my XBOX fragged everytime. I even used the rings supplied . . . to no avail.

Now, I have searched on the Team Xecuter forums, and I haven't found an answer to the question I am about to ask, so . . . please, bear with me.

Does anyone know where I can get a D0/LAN/HDD Cable for the X3 (it's the one with 3 cables RED, GREEN and GREY (just in case someone didn't know)).

Does anyone have a spare one that they are willing to sell (or offload).

I have a Xapt3r, 3 X3 Wire Install Cables, 2 X3 Regular Front Switches that I do not need. I dunno if there's anyone out there that would be willing to trade if they need any of the above items. I really need the cable asap, and I don't want to have to buy a new X3 just so I can get the cable, neither am I willing to risk trying to solder the D0 directly to the X3.

I would gladly exchange the Xapt3r for the D0 cable (even though that would be at a great loss) because I simply have no use for it.

Whew!

If you can't get one from an authorized distributor (have you tried?)

You could always attempt to make your own. I believe the connector is a MOLEX KK type (3 conductor)

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

OR, if you are really stuffed and feel a little adventurous, you could just use a bit of wire with no connector on. Just expose the pins on the connector on the X3, tin the pin, tin a bit of wire and solder it directly to the pin. If you have a bit of sleeving to push over the joint afterwards that would really help. It's a bodge but it will work. If you are feeling really fancy, you could also do the HDD and LAN connectors but it may actually be easier for you to snip these pins of the chip to make more room and reduce the risk of shorting the D0.

I know this works as someone I know....Ahem..... accidently melted that connector with a soldering iron during an install.....What's that burning smell?

Have fun.
