No...you have to match the correct wire with the correct pad on the lcd. I think I saw a pinout for all the connectors on the x3 somewhere in the forums here. Ahhh...here it is.

RealestDeMo...yeah, it's pretty roomy in there. It has a cage that will hold two more hard drives that's not in there in the pics. Haven't decided if I'll put another one in or not. I don't really need it at this point. It already has a 200gig drive, and I never play xbox live so I don't need the original drive. The only reason I might want another drive would be to put linux on, but I haven't found a distro for xbox that I'm happy with yet. If I did put another drive in though, I would probably put the switch in back.
I think the next step is to put the receiver for my wireless controller in there. Just have to rig up some kind of antenna for it.
EDIT:...good lord, I'm getting long winded in my old age. Sorry if I was rambling.
