Not sure if heres the right place to post this =p ... just feel like sharing what i've gone through, installing the chip.

First of all .. it took me days ... approx 6 ~10hrs each day after my work to get it done, and i finally able to see the X3 logo in Blue about 18hrs ago from this post.

On my very first attempt, i soldered the LPC header, and the LPC rebuild on my v1.6 xbox. And what i got was only FRAGS. I keep checking the D0 point.. desolder/solder etc ... still can't get it to work .

Next day, i came back with a brand new solder iron , cos the one i used broke .. n ended up with lots of solder on the pins etc ... Anyway , i bought the desolder braid and decided to take off the LPC rebuild, and use the normal wire install ... I took of the LPC rebuild pcb, and somehow, i broke it into half =p ... doesnt mattter anymore since i'm going for wire install now..

And so .. my first LPC rebuild( wire install ) was connecting the LAD2. And guess what? ... i dont know what happend ... i accidentally took out the pad/via and also pulled out the trace from the board ....... O_O ...

Man .... at that point .. i just .. gave up .. i took off everything i have soldered instead of the LPC pin header and try to fix that broken trace .. just hoping that my xbox still works after this =( .... I didnt use the tutorial for "fixing broken trace" .. all i did was joining the trace back with solder =P ... n good lord, it works . Xbox back to normal ... And i told myself this ... i'll just get another new modded xbox .. this task is just too hard. I screwed back all the screws and just leave it alone ....

And then 2 days later, which was Saturday, i came back from work , and somehow i felt that, why not give it another try ? since a modded xbox will cost around 470aud (include shipment) ... hmmnn and so ... i settled down n give it ONE LAST TRY ... and on this attempt , i removed the LPC pin header, and fix it using the wire pin header. I find it easier to solder these wires onto the LPC then the pin header =p .. and after that, i redo the LPC rebuild using wire installation. And u know what? After ALL the trouble, i finally found my mistake on the LPC rebuild. I FORGOT TO SOLDER THE BLUE LAD3 on my first attempt using the LPC rebuild .... cos as i was doing the wire install at this stage, that pad/via appears to be clean ....

man ......

Anyway .. i got it done .. after hours ... using the wire install for the LPC rebuild is not easy ... =p .. cos u'll need 3hands =P heh .. All i did was put a little bit of solder on the via/pad, and then nicely lay out the wire that connects both ends on the board and tape it so that it doesnt move. Next, i just heat up the wires at the end n apply just a little bit of solder.

If i were to post the picture of my board here, i think u ppl will laugh that my xbox is still able to work (well not perfectly since now i can't disable X3 but doesnt matter, i have no plans to get xbl) ...well maybe next time when i upgrade the HDD =P

oh .. if i was given a 2nd chance, i'll still choose to mod it myself =) .. I think its fun and very challenging =) and also that indescribable feeling when after all the hard work+time, u finally able to see the X3 Blue Logo =)

Glad you got sorted. If you did miss a point on the LPC rebuild then it should be a lesson for all the first time modders out there of how important it is to really take your time and make sure everything is spot on. One other thing to condsider is its a lot easier to add more solder to the LPC pins than remove it so dont plaster your board with the stuff.
