Ok, I checked and double checked my soldering, so lets get that out of the way.
I got the 3029 bios for my version 1.0 xbox. I have a xecuter 3 ce modchip. I got it installed using the pin header. It boots into the bios flash screen fine. When I first flashed, I had all the banks left (off I think), so that might be part of my problem. I then tried with off on off off. But anyways, here is the problem, after I flashed the bios from a cd-rw, my xbox boots, but then shuts off right away. Sometimes it comes back on, and then shuts off again. I can still get into the flash bios screen if I hold both eject and power down, but if I try to disable the chip, it turns on and turns off very quickly.
Does anyone know what could have caused this? I have checked my soldering repeatedly, hoping that that might be the problem. All the solder points look like volcanoes, and the are kinda shiny. So, I would really appreciate any suggestions!
Another thing, that might or might not be releated. If I try to do the flash by http, it tells me my ip address, but from any of the machines on my network, I can't ping it, or go to the webpage. I am not a novice to networking, and it leads me to believe there is something funky with my hub, or with the xbox. I don't think it is the hub, because I have tried different cables in different ports. My router doesn't list the xbox as an attached device, so I give up.
