n00b question about updating my Switch

Hello!

I was given a Switch for Xmas . Got the SX Pro, all's well. I'm on 2.5.2 right now and my Switch is on 5.1.

Given that I have no interest whatsoever in its online features (going to buy a second one probably if I ever want that), what would be the best way to update the Switch?

I understand this is probably a level 0 question, but I'm kinda lost here, so please bear with me...

PS the Switch has never gone online; however, because I didn't know any better, unfortunately I do not have a vanilla NAND backup.

if you don't have a vanilla Nand thats ok, just make one that works (disable autoRCM first before backing up) so you can bring your switch back from any case of bricking. Good plan on the second switch for online, thats the best course of action.

But yea just follow the sticky on choirdujornx... easy as anything.

Thanks for your replies, really. I did read the choirdujornx before posting, that was my B option - a.k.a., offline option. I mostly wanted to see if anyone would suggest just saying "f*ck it, just go online for this update".

yea I think you can if you want by all means if you haven't been banned yet.

But like its been warned 7.0 is dropping any day and if your switch downloads that instead of 6.2 you're fcked.

incase you didn't know, when 6.2 dropped before it was supported by SXOS and people installed it, it broke the hack for almost 3 weeks, thats 3 weeks without your backups.

Yup! I did read the notes on that.

In the end I did follow the tutorial, really easy and worked perfectly indeed!

Just one more question - why the installer at the end warns against updating the controllers?
