Sorry if this is a stupid question but i couldnt find anything on it

So i just bought a Nand-X and im going to do a wire install but when i got the wires out it has a pin header on it.

Now call me a n00b but im not sure how the pin header is intended to be installed on the board. Does anyone has a picture of an install with the board using the pin header or am i just better off pulling the wires and installing it with just the wires

I wasnt sure if i could just leave the wires installed though after i complete the RGH w/ coolrunner

EDIT: this is a trinity board

Pinheaders can be a pain in the arse unless you're good with them. Personally I cut them off and use direct wires. Personal choice though

I agree, the hardest part about pin headers is removing the old solder to clear the holes out, some of them can be a bitch. I only use pin headers, never used a QSB

Thanks for all the replies, yeah im just goin to cut he wires and install it that way.

Question though, can i leave the wires there once the install is complete or do i need to remove them to make the RGH work?

You can leave them in but unplug the nand-x otherwise you risk bricking it when you power the console on. I would remove them once your glitch is in place and running. Barring bad flashes you shouldn't need them and they'll just be wires trailing in your system. Easy enough to resolder them on if you have to open up the box to recover from a bad flash.

i was wondering... can you just hold down the pin headers in place while nand is being dumped? and then again while its being writtin to avoid desoldering and soldering?

You'll risk messing about with your nand dump that way. The most important part of the process is to get a good original dump. The dump won't just be for the glitch you need to keep it for the life of the console.

If further down the line you run into problems 99% of the time you can recover using your original dump. As long as it's a good clean nand. Don't take the risk by finding shortcuts. Even spending hours getting your first solid nand dump will save you in the long run. The soldering and desoldering of the nand-x is a walk in the park compared tp the soldering for the coolrunner anyway so it shouldn't be an issue. If it is an issue then be very careful when you solder the coolrunner.

The best way to avoid soldering and desoldering would be to use a qsb anyway. If that's your thing spend the extra couple of dollars, pounds, euros, yen and go that route.

thats true i guess i didnt really think about that, i did the Rgh already and the C & D points were trickier than the rest of it, althlough for the slim QSB The R1 point gave me a hard time. i think i need a smaller tip. 3rd time picking up a soldering iron so i lukily didnt blow any fuses or anything. everything came out alright with 7-12 sec boot times
