hi all, im having problems with my nand-x to read the nand of my slim using j-runner, installed the coolrunner correctly, i go to read the nand and the log window just says can not continue soldering is all correct but even if it wasn't J-runner should atleast say arm v3 or something similar jtag tool wont work as i have a the old one ror just jtags and cannot update as tech-mods is down i've tried various pc's, re-downloading jrunner but i don't see why this is happening as it was just yesterday that i used the nand-x to restore my jasper to a retail image o_O any idea's people?

Did you leave the nand-x plugged into the coolrunner with the coolrunner switched to normal and the xbox powered up? If so, you may have damaged your nand-x (I did this as well).

i dont think so usually unplug all this sorta stuff before i do anything like turn a console on but it's is always a possibility, my old nand flasher won't work either which can't be updated to v3 but will still work to atleast read nand's, i can still use nand-x to program coolrunners tho?

Yes, you can still use the nand-x to program coolrunners even if the nand functions get borked. I use my "broken" nand-x to flash coolrunners and my new nand-x to r/w nand. That way there is no chance of me doing something stupid again.

However, like Martin said, before you jump to conclusions, should probably post pics just to eliminate something obvious.

First off - there are no pics.

Secondly, check my nand-x troubleshooting guide to make sure your readings are what they should be.
its a very clean install none of the nand-x wires are frayed shorting out just none of my software is even recognizing it's even plugged in, however windows does?

i think this is a software issue as if software won't even say that my nand-x is even detected then whats going on? drivers are the ones included with j-runner, i can flash any coolrunner but when it comes to nand it can't detect that nand-x is there o_O if i had a camera i'd post pics but but its not a console related issue as it wont even detect it with it not plugged into a console even the cmd nandpro won't detect a device

Do you have a friend with a nand-x or other nand reader who can test a known working unit?

J-Runner doesn't use nandpro so you won't see the normal screens.

Try running nandpro and see what message you get.

did you check the readings via the NAND-x troubleshooting guide?

looking for usb interface devices
can not continue

i would but i need to get my damn multi meter back off my friend who always likes to take years to get anything done

You may have just needed to reset the NAND-x - were you unplugging it from the USB and plugging it in again after each attempt?
i tried the reset button several times, didn't get anything from it and on my laptop yes, on the girlfriend's i just downloaded all the necessary tools to dump the nand, plugged the nand-x in installed drivers and then it worked no problem, plugged it back into mine after i dumped twice (just in case i had to use hers for glitching it) and voila it worked on my laptop lol never have come across this before with any usb device in the entire 13 years i've owned a computer and i've had one since i was 5 so usually know what to do when something goes wrong, was contemplating installing xp back on the laptop instead of 7 but realised it had worked before so that wasnt the issue hmmm maybe the nand-x and laptop were having a funny 5 mins lol

Must have done something in the time between moving the NAND-x to another PC and back. Do you reboot your computer often?
i tried my desktop and still didn't work then asked missus and worked on hers and my laptop i use 24/7 as its plugged into my TV usually gets left on permanently as im always downloading bits but gets rebooted to install updates and thats probably it, but i didn't turn it of the night before it stop reading as i'd just finished my jasper and then put windows 8 consumer on to dl'd so not sure whats happened :S
