Nand-X solder check

Hi,

I'm new on the xbox hack scene and after some mistake I got flagged (failed AP2.5 but fortunately offline) so I would like to dump, clean, inject my nand to go on the Live again. Because I'm not very confident I asked a friend to install the Nand-X for me but when I tried to dump my nand I got an error (looking for usb device) and I wondered if it could come from bad solder (what he did don't look good...).

Did he do this wrong or my error come from elsewhere (I bought a v3 nand-x recently so it souldn't come from the lack of update)?

that soldering is terrible....it looks like you have cold solder joints there......bad.....
the solder needs to mix with the existing solder, and when it cools it should go slightly matte - not shiny - I can see one point that is defo bad.....
also - the NAND-X QSB in the second pic has solder bridges on it......
I would get that ALL re-done, and then also make sure the console has power but is not turned on, then try again

leaded solder goes shiny, lead-free goes matt.

Most of my solder points are nice n shiny

when I solder with my leaded solder it's shiny, but if you melt the points on the board it mixes the lead free and leaded solder, then it cools to slightly matte for me - that's when I know the joint is good

true as it mixes with the lead-free, however if you use enough leaded flux then your solder points will go shiny as in the guy's pics.

I would get a solder sucker / braid and remove some though - not needing all that solder!

So I only have to remove some and it should be good enough?

Get some braid and remove excess solder. You'll be surprised how little solder you need to make a connection.

I will remake all the work. First clean all the surfaces. Remove the solder and retry. You don't need such quantities of solder.

I don't get it, could a bit more tin prevent the nand-x to work properly?

with that much solder, you could be bridging something.
