I have a NAND-X which I ordered on Monday, August 29th 2011. Like a genius, I did not save my box, so I have no idea if it had the "Version 3" label on it or not.
From what I understand, you CAN use a NAND-X to program a CoolRunner using a cable specifically made for that purpose. However, to do that, the NAND-X itself must have software version 3 installed on it, as the previous releases don't contain the functionality needed.
So, two questions:
1-Is there seriously no way to determine, via software, what version a NAND-X is running?
and 2-If "yes" to 1, is there any ETA on the release of the purpose-built USB NAND-X update cable? Sites like XConsole and ModChipCentral both have a listing for it, but no picture or release date. I do not have any useable hardware with which to update my NANDX should it prove necessary.
