NAND-X USB Update Cable ETA?

I have a NAND-X which I ordered on Monday, August 29th 2011. Like a genius, I did not save my box, so I have no idea if it had the "Version 3" label on it or not.

From what I understand, you CAN use a NAND-X to program a CoolRunner using a cable specifically made for that purpose. However, to do that, the NAND-X itself must have software version 3 installed on it, as the previous releases don't contain the functionality needed.

So, two questions:
1-Is there seriously no way to determine, via software, what version a NAND-X is running?
and 2-If "yes" to 1, is there any ETA on the release of the purpose-built USB NAND-X update cable? Sites like XConsole and ModChipCentral both have a listing for it, but no picture or release date. I do not have any useable hardware with which to update my NANDX should it prove necessary.

No, you will only know if it is running V3 code when you program the CoolRunner with it and it will either work or it won't (unless there is an error on your part in between). My NAND-X said "New V3 Code" on the box but I programmed it again just to be sure.

I went ahead and ordered a CKi3 to update with. I actually used to have one, but it went missing sometime in the last year or so. I see this as an excuse to replace it, since I have had several occasions recently when it would have come in handy...

If you can't wait then make your own cable. You are spoiled for choice when it comes to cables, LPT Jtag, USB to Jtag, NAND-X update via CK3i, etc.

sry I don't want to open a new thread, so I read at a online store that with the jtag cable a power cable is included, so do I need a ck3i or is this power cable to be installed to the nand-x?

Not ck3i cable

Wait it does say nandx USB ...

The team just need to come out and say they jumped the gun about a USB cable.

The fact that u need an other product to help flash an arm chip just shows u can't just plug a USB cable to a port and write. The computer won't even pick it up.

But thats just what I think. I may be wrong

Well it might not be a one time thing I. The future. There has been many updates for NAND pro. So I mean u will need it. And maybe offer a local service? It pays for it self in the long run.

You'll need it when you least expect it lol.
