Need a few questions answered before buying please..

I have a few questions that I need answered before I make a purchase please..

1. According to the picture below I have a BENQ drive..
Note, this is without opening the 360 as I don't have the tools to do so, yet.. If my drive tray looks like below is it 100% I have a BENQ?

2. So if I have a BENQ what is the best / easiest way to flash my 360? Blaster 360 CK3?

3. So once the drive is flashed do you not have to worry about it again until the 360 gets updated? Then you have to flash it with new firmware?

4. Once the drive is flashed I can then play backups but how do consoles get banned from live? Is that pretty much a given any time you flash a drive?

5. Are modded 360's able to play ripped 360 games off an external hdd like the Wii?

first of all take out the front of the xbox, thats a better way to see what drive you have

you see the cirkel number 3: tell us what you see

A white wire means that the DVD drive inside your Xbox 360 is BENQ
A yellow wire means you have a LITEON
a red means you have a samsung

ANSWER: if it's indeed a BENQ, all you need is a compatible sata chipset and a ck3 pro
(thats the easiest way IMO) never tried blast360 though

ANSWER: once the drive is flashed, ur good untill a newer firmware is released (happens like once a year or so)
if you flash your xbox, YOU SHOULD save your key

ANSWER: you can play SAFE backups, be sure to check all your games with abgx1.05
it's pretty safe with LT+ firmware, it's hard to get banned

5. Are modded 360's able to play ripped 360 games off an external hdd like the Wii?
NO!! you are only able to play burned backups, nothing from external hdd
if u want to play games from an external hdd, u have to JTAG ur xbox but thats a different story

I see two yellow wires.. So I have a LITEON? Even though my drive tray looks nothing like the picture?

Word of advice though, read ...read....and read more before you make any decisions. There is a wealth of information here that will assist you and save you any frustration before you make your purchase.

7 series, 8 series v1, 8 series v2 and 9 series

the only way to know which one you have, is to open the xbox and watch the dvddrive mate

and like Sohco suggested, READ alot before doing anything

So the first thing I should do is open up my case and find out exact model of drive and mobo chipset?

But I can't open the case without special tools, right?

It's not that you can't open the case without the proper tools. It's better if you have them, therefor saving you from damaging your 360 case.

Remember two things in learning how to do this:

Patience

Preperation

but you dont really need "special" tools but they will make it easier and faster for you

watch tutorials on the internet on how to dissamble xbox360, there are plenty

all i needed was a flat screwdriver and a very thin screwdriver to get in those small holes
but i eventually bought the tools because they make it easier like i said

try and see, it's not that hard

Personally is recommend the xecuter unlock tool. You generally get them in a bundle with some other stuff or you can get them separately.
It's the first thing I ever bought and I still have them. Worth their weight in gold.
As a repairer I often see cases that people have destroyed using a screw driver. It just trashes all the compression joints. Very Amateur.

OK, I got it apart, it was easy as you said..

Does that help? Hopefully I won't need to solder anything as if I would have to I wouldn't attempt.

Also, how to I find what SATA chipset I have?

Flashing won't be too hard. Just follow the tutorial to the letter. And yeah, you will need a probe to get the key.

Cool. So would it be best to just get the Xecuter 360 Blaster CK3 kit? As it comes with the probe? Please let me know the best product to get that will be the easiest to use.

Decide on exactly which direction you want to go. Next, review the tutorials on how to flash the paticular drive that you have. Make sure you FULLY understand what you are going to need to do before you order anything. You will save yourself alot of frustration and time.

OK I've read a lot more and watched a lot more vids.. I'm going to get the Blaster 360.

The only other question I really have is if I can use my Esata port to my PC for this with an esata to sata cable? I'm guessing it shouldn't be a problem but figured I'd ask just in case..

you could essentially but its recommended if you get the via sata 6421 chipset card if you want to avoid any problems because not every sata chipset is compatible with jungleflasher. do you know what chipset your computer is?
