Need flashing help for a first timer....

Powering your drive from xbox360 - read this first!
Ok - here is what i know :!:
IF you power on the xbox whilst the DVD sata cable is not plugged from drive to xbox mainboard - it produces an error!
since an update earlier this year - that particular error is logged and counted!
As of yet i have no idea if bans will occur from that data - but M$ dont add things like that for fun!

So - My advice - use a connectivity kit or Maximus power unit for powering your drives during flashing! NOT the xbox!

As far as I have been told this log has been forever there it's just now that they have a counter for it for some reason. I cannot figure out a reason they would need a counter to find people who mod their xbox as that number would be 1 or 2 as you only use it for a PSU once or twice. And that doesn't say much compared to the old way of logging and MS never banned 360's used as PSU's
I really wouldn't worry, but I guess better safe than sorry.

ok. can i make a power cable? im not waiting another 20 days for something to come in the mail. i just got my sata card and im gonna flash this sucker today!
so can i take a regular power cable fromt he pc and just add the wires to the correct spot and do this? a diagram or schematic would help so i can just make one instead of wasting money on something i can make.

but the safest route would just to buy a power dongle. I wouldn't f**k around with the power circuitry on the drive (and it seems to only work with hitachi's)

but trust me when i say - i NEVER power the 360 without the drive connected to it! For the reasons in my original post!

i flash a load off consoles using the dvd power drive
and not got anyone banned . but mind you i heard off this before on another site year ago . and on another web site i got told to use the activate disc that clears the flag after you used the drive to flash i think that one sounds better clearing the flag

I used the power from the Xbox the other day. Then saw this afterwards. havent done anything with the unit yet, so if this works then Id like to use it.

I think this must be true... I've modded all my drives with an EPU but my EPU (Maximus Power Dongle or whatever), for whatever reason the eject doesn't work. When it came to modding I manually ejected it, then pushed it in half way and powered it off and on and it put it in it's unlock mode or whatever mode (I forget now, this was August ).
Now, a few weeks ago, I decided to start modding my friends consoles. The first one I did was a Hitachi 47. For this I really didn't want to screw it up because I had no backup drive at the time and they're supposed to be real finicky, so I decided to use the 360 as the power source. I told my friend the extra risk and he said ok. Today, he's banned.
The only other thing that I think the banned could be linked to is playing Forza 3 last night online (although I was too and I'm in the clear still) or just a totally random ban. But my console hasn't been banned and it's the only thing that was done differently so, beware...

Hi is anyone can help me with this went i try to flash with jungle flasher i get this messege of error went i try ben Q and yesterday i think i did flash with sammy unlock but i have it play any back up yet the xbox do not read any backup the i try i dont now if my backup are good or no please somebody help me up on this one please stil play the original games

What if you use a double SATA adapter for the drive, one from the Xbox and one from the PC? It this likely to damage the Xbox?
