hard to say Ms detecting everything so no one really knows the story as of yet. Still trying to hunt my buddy down who works at M$ about this stuff. All he told me a bit ago was M$ knows the mods and what has been done and that somthing would come eventually.

I think it must be them logging this error, purely because i was flashing my drive over the weekend to different firmwares particularly 0800, then to ixtreme 1.6 i used to have 1.51 (samsung spoofed to hitachi) and suddenly im banned, maybe its 1.6, who knows?

What if you were doing a genuine repair to replace an unmodded drive because its broken and replacing it with another unmodded drive?Wouldn't you maybe have to flash the key to the new drive?Would this register as an error to m$??and a possible ban?

Thats still modding the console, which violates the EUA so they can still ban you.

Ok - here is what i know :!:
IF you power on the xbox whilst the DVD sata cable is not plugged from drive to xbox mainboard - it produces an error!

since an update earlier this year - that particular error is logged and counted!

As of yet i have no idea if bans will occur from that data - but M$ dont add things like that for fun!
So - My advice - use a connectivity kit or Maximus power unit for powering your drives during flashing! NOT the xbox!

well some of us dont have that kind of money to buy those damn mod chips. its not goin to do anything as long as u make sure the ethernet cord isnt plugged in. wow its pretty bad when MS starts banning people for modded xboxs and everyone starts freaking out. it has nothing to do with that braveheart43 u gone koo koos.. the banning is all to do with the firmware and makig sure their games are properly stealth right. and like the post said up front make sure there is no difference between the hacked and stock. so quit making crap up just cause people keep gettin banned.

hey topper here is a tip for u ok. i flashed my dad lite-on and not realizing i couldnt restore it back to normal so I had to buy a new drive off of ebay a hitachi to be exact. in order for u not to get caught is to just take the dvd key off of ur old drive and flash it to the new drive, not the firmware just the key. and u will be able to play original games but not burnt. and make sure u spoof as ur old drive so MS doesnt tell the difference the thing is as long as MS doesnt detect and firmware change theres nothing they with do and they wont be firmware change its still stock the dvdkey was just flashed thats it. it worked for my dad ok and he almost got banned but he disconnected his system from the internet when i told him about my xbox gettin banned. so if u wanna fix ur drive for cheap then do that i just wanna give u a tip on how i fix a problem like that.

I am VERY VERY careful about things i post!

No dvd connected during power on produces an error! this error is logged in nand, if the error occurs again it is counted (again logged in nand) - all of this is uploaded to m$ during connection to live.

I at no point said you WILL get banned doing it quote "As of yet i have no idea if bans will occur from that data - "

So I suggest you read carefully my original post!

I cannot reveal my source (as he wishes to remain anon!) however - he knows what he's talking about!

Choose to believe me or not! your choice! But dont tell me i am talkin crap! unless you have evidence that PROVES me wrong.

Read my previous posts - i dare you to find something i have said that is wrong.

Haven't posted for a while but just thought I'd let you know the following.
I flashed a couple of units in my time and to save poeple bringing everything I would just get the drive off them and plug it into an old 360 I always left open at my desk. (Obviously I couldn't check the thing worked but you kinda new when stuff went ok).
The unit I used to power these was an unflashed samsung as I never needed to flash it. After the recent ban wave I put the samsung unit back together as I was gonna give it to a friend who got banned.... guess what ... updated and it got banned, never was flashed!!!

Re: Powering your drive from xbox360 - read this first!

Quick question guys. I'm thinking of flashing my BenQ 360 with LT and i was wondering if it would be ok to use my already banned hitachi to power the BENQ drive while i flashed it? Would this work. And would it damage either box in any way. Being as they are different drives. Thankx in advance.

depends on what exactly is the problem I think as long as the drive is still able to get power you should be fine

I think this must be true... I've modded all my drives with an EPU but my EPU (Maximus Power Dongle or whatever), for whatever reason the eject doesn't work. When it came to modding I manually ejected it, then pushed it in half way and powered it off and on and it put it in it's unlock mode or whatever mode (I forget now, this was August ).

Now, a few weeks ago, I decided to start modding my friends consoles. The first one I did was a Hitachi 47. For this I really didn't want to screw it up because I had no backup drive at the time and they're supposed to be real finicky, so I decided to use the 360 as the power source. I told my friend the extra risk and he said ok. Today, he's banned.

The only other thing that I think the banned could be linked to is playing Forza 3 last night online (although I was too and I'm in the clear still) or just a totally random ban. But my console hasn't been banned and it's the only thing that was done differently so, beware...
The only two drives safe to play on xbox live as of now is LIteOn and BenQ flashed to LT v1.1 Any other drive, IE: Hitachi, will get banned because microsoft can detect firmware iXtreme 1.x.
