hey guys I'll explain step by step what I did so it might help someone explain how I can fix it

I installed the X3CE onto my 1.6b XBOX
I put the switches to OFF ON OFF OFF OFF and turned it on and bought up FlashBIOS screen
I then set the switches to ON ON OFF OFF OFF and using the network option flashed it with bios X3_3029
I then installed Avalaunch and it all worked sweet
I wanted to try a different dashboard, so I deleted the dashboard files and rebooted to try to get back to X3 config live so I could FTP in and copy on a new dashboard which didn't happen it loaded the standard MS dash (I now know you just hold white button while booting, didn't know at the time) so I figured I'd just flash the bios again with the same one and everything should go back to default settings so I could FTP in again. didn't work it stuffed the bios image and I couldn't load it anymore
I could still switch the switches to OFF ON OFF OFF OFF and the flashbios would load fine
so I tried a few times to flash the bios back onto the ON ON OFF OFF OFF bank but it wouldn't work
so I decided to try a different bios version, downloaded a much older X3 bios, turned the machine off, set OFF ON OFF OFF OFF switches and loaded flashbios, changed switches to ON ON OFF OFF OFF and flashed older version of bios, sweet fixed the problem and bank 1 was now booting fine again
so I wanted to put the new version of the bios back on
set switches to OFF ON OFF OFF OFF rebooted to get into the flashbios, and again flashed it via the network with the newer bios version......only I FORGOT TO CHANGE THE DIPSWITCHES....so I've flashed it over the top of the bank that had the flashbios program :( the bank 1 works and I can boot it although it's a very old version of the X3 bios, but bank 2 won't load anymore :(

how can I get the flashbios application back onto bank 2????
please tell me there's a way :(

I got a better solution for you. Flash flashbios 3.0.3 to your backup bios. To do this, you need to download flashbios 3.0.3 and make sure to extract it to a bin file. Put it in a folder named "bios" (without the quotes). Now boot your xbox to X3 config live. FTP the folder bios into your xbox on your c:\ partition. Now go to bios tools->flash backup rom. then direct to your flashbios 3.0.3.bin on your bios folder. This way, you have updated your backup flashbios to 3.0.3. From hence forth, all you have to do is press power and eject buttons at the same time to get to flashbios 3.0.3 and never need to worry about switches.

yeah someone else told me to put flashbios 3.03 on my backrom too
really wish I'd read your post before I tried it because I did it wrong and think I've completely screwed my xbox now
I tried to flash flashbios 3.03 to my bank I was using to boot the xbox
now banks 1 and 2 just frag when I try to turn it on :(

in that case you are screwed. Now either you get someone to hotswap it for you, contact a reseller and perhaps they will flash flashbios 3.0.3 for you for a fee or buy a new chip. Sorry man.

this maybe a stupid question, but if I was to pull the hard drive out of my xbox, and copy the flashbios 3.0.3 bios in the c:\bios directory that way
then put the hard drive back in my xbox and boot it by pressing power and eject together....would that load the flashbios ???

as for this question, I would like to know if it works myself. My suspicion is that it may or may not work so it's worth a try. You got nothing to lose. I would guess you currently have flashbios 3.0.0 or 3.0.1 in your backup so go ahead and do it. If it was me, I would put in the X3 bios instead of the flashbios 3.0.3 because if it flashed, then at least I have a working bios. If you flash flashbios, you still have to flash X3 bios so don't see the reason to do it twice.

if he has an xecuter 2.6, it will work. Not sure if he has an older chip than 2.6 since the pin headers are different. All he has to do is boot his system with his chip to flashbios 3.0.3 or whatever he has on right now. You then carefully remove his chip while his system is running. Just make sure to becareful with what you are doing at this point since you can short out his system and kill his too. Then you just place your chip in (without any wires connected if you wish) and then flash X3 bios to your chip-> this will flash to your banks 1234 (or flashbios 3.0.3 if you so incline to do). Then shut down the system and remove your chip. Put it back to your system and boot to X3 config live and follow my directions to update your backup bios.

so just copying the X3 bios files into the bios directory on the xbox's C:\ drive should probably allow me to boot the xbox by pressing the 2 buttons together, then I just flash to one of the normal banks from there?

If you mean putting your xbox hdd into your pc, then it won't work, well not with windows anyway.

try switching the banks that might work, but you'll end up with some unsable banks, which will be okay unless you want to have 2+ bioses on your chip.

neither bank 1 nor 2 boots they both frag
the backup rom just boots up the xbox but nothing on the screen, light stays green for 20 seconds then changes orange and stays orange nothing happens

when I was talking about swapping harddrives I was meaning put my hard drive into another chipped xbox, ftp into it and stick the flashbios 3.0.3 bin file into the c:\bios directory

then take the hard drive out put it back into my xbox then boot the backup rom

would this work??

nope since you just told us you get nothing on screen with backup bios. You need to talk to your buddy about hotswapping now.

I just flashed X3 bios to OFF ON OFF OFF and can get to config live again
you're damn right about the guardian angel this is like 3 times I've been told I stuffed it and wouldn't be able to fix it and I've fluked it every time hehe I'm learning a week or so ago I'd never even played a game on an xbox let alone contemplated modding one, I've just worked out everything as I go along and I'm glad I did I've learned so much I would have never had a chance to if I just paid someone to do it for me

also how do I get a copy of Flashbios 3.0.3 into my backup rom so that if this ever happens again I can just boot with power+eject button and fix it?

is it as simple as copying the flashbios bin file into c:\bios on the xbox or do I have to somehow flash it on there?
