Need Help Choosing an HDD for HDD upgrade

I softmodded my xbox a couple weeks ago Ndure+HDM hotswap method thanks t******k for the tut. Now I need help choosing a hard drive that will work with Ndure+HDM softmod.

I already tried with a seagate 400gig ST3400632A got a frozen security status on HDM so I was not able to lock the drive. Nine people said that they got this drive to work on the xbox HDD compatibility page but no details on their method of modding modchip or softmod.

Don't really know if it's my mobo or the HDD causing the frozen security status but I'll try asking seagate and changing comps in the meantime.

If anybody could recommend a large drive that they have got to work with Ndure+HDM softmod it would help a lot thanks in advance.

Frozen drive is a problem with your BIOS. From the FAQ in that tutorial thread:

Q: Xboxhdm is telling me my drive is frozen, what can I do?
A: This seems to be a BIOS issue and happens more frequently on store-bought Intel-based computers. If your drive is showing up as frozen, do this. When you’re booting up your PC, hit the Pause Break button on your keyboard. Now - boot up your Xbox, let the drive unlock, and do the hotswap. Hit the Pause Break key again and it should work fine.

Well, since you're using a new hard drive, it's more like .. don't plug in the IDE cable until you reach the XboxHDM screen. Have the power cable attached to the hard drive, but the IDE left unplugged. Boot up and when you reach the HDM main menu, hit pause break and plug in the IDE. That should fix it. You could also try disabling prefetching hard drives in your BIOS.

Thanks for the quick response text.
I already tried plugging at the HDM menu, but left out hitting pause break, probably why it did not work earlier.

was you able to get the softmod on the 400gig drive and if you did then you need to get yor back up fold that you created from your xbox and get to the option that yes something like lock/unlock hd

yea i got the frozen drive status also, i just did as text said and rebooted to the hdm menu and then plugged my hdd in, it didnt work the first time but i tryed again and it did. hope you can figure it out
