So I am interested in getting a modded Xbox 360 to play back ups. Dashboards, homebrew is all secondary. Playing the back ups off of HDD or disc is also not important to me. I have a couple options here.
I have 2 360s right now one which is an old white core system (non-working, audio no video) and then I have my current slim with 250 GB HDD which is my everyday use. My wife and I play online on XBL a lot so I was initially thinking of leaving my slim as is unmodded and having the core system for just offline back-ups. I got a very fair price from someone here in the B.S.T. section but then when I started researching burning backups it sounds like I will need to buy a new DL DVD burner as my current burner is a BENQ DW1640.
I have a softmodded xbox and being able to transfer games by FTP like I do with that would be great which is why I was looking into some of ODDE and other similar systems.
I have about $100 to $150 budget for Xmas/Birthday gift and I'm leaning towards the repair, new burner, and some nice blank DVDs. My worry with messing with the slim is that I will not be able to play on XBL so I would need something like the old chips the original xbox had where it could be left as stock to play online.
