Need help flashing bios to x3

Something happened to the bios that was on the x3 and I need to load a new one on, but I am not having any success with it. If it try to flash over http or with a cd I get unknown flash! halting but if with http it does say that it got the bios image or with the cd it says it found biosupdate but I get the unknown flash! halting. I am pretty sure flash protect is turned off. On the data bank I have tried on on off off off and off on off off off and I have also tried the switch on the chip itself and unplugging the data bank. I am trying to flash the x3_3294 bios with flashbios 3.0.1, this is my first time flashing and I am not completely sure of what I am doing so any help would be great.

what happen to the old bios
try flashing with out switch hookup to the chip it will flash the frist 1mb
try with the switch on chip both ways
have you unziped x3 bios need to ask this had someone doing flash with out unziping bios rar file the other day

The only thing I can think of that happened to the old bios is that there is a lot of static in our house and the other day I went to turn on the xbox and as I reached for the button I was shocked. This may have possibly corrupted or erased the bios somehow.

I did try flashing without the data bank connected to the chip and with the switch on the chip both ways, no luck.

Yes, bios was unzipped from the rar file and renamed to bios.bin

when doing a http flash you do not rename x3 bios

The chip is set to unprotected, the light is red. The external switch is disconnected from the chip. When I start flashbios, where it says flash type, it does not say xecuter3 like it is supposed to when it is unprotected. It says
manf=0xFF, dev=0xFF. Sometimes it varies and it will say
Read only??? manf=0x09, dev=0x00

Is this some malfunction with the x3 chip and I need to get a new one?

good chance it was static may have bad chip

try flashing with x2 bios

Tried with x2 bios, no luck. I'm just going to get a new chip and be glad there is nothing wrong with the xbox itself.

The current chip was installed by a pro. If I do this myself since everything is already in place, do I just simply take out the old chip, put the new one in and flash it?

yes take your time with it becarefull of the plugs that goto the chip and all will be well
