Need Help Flashing Bios via FTP

First off, yes i'm a noob, a pissed off one right now.

So i ordered an X3 premod (i've never soldered) and got it a few days ago (after 40 days). Anyways, i've looked at all the features and it looks nice.
Noticed that i didn't have the latest bios so i followed the xbox scene tutorial on how to burn bios to a cd-r dvd-r. Worked flawlessly, but for some reason my xbox doesn't read the disk (freaking bastards sent me a 1.2 box with the sh*tty Thomson drive when they told me all they're boxes we're new and 1.6). Fine...Decided to FTP the bios file to my XBOX HD.

Here is my question, i have 1 PC (with XP) network card, 1 1.2 XBOX, 1 crossover cable and FlashFXP. Is it possible to FTP my PC/XBOX with only this ? If yes, what do i need to connect where ? What should be my IP settings, should i use the X3 network or dashboard network menu to set it up ? What settings should i double check in X3 menu ?
After hours of browsing tutorials and all i'm starting to see crossover cable flying everywhere along with static IP's.... I'm lost

i had the same problem and it took me 3 days to figure it out. keep looking through the forums. thats where i found the answer. had to read like 5-10 different threads, but i found settings that finally worked.

But hardware speaking, do i have all that is required ?
And do you remember where you got the info that helped you ?
I tried the xbox scene tutorial but it is vague and didn't help.

You bet! You've got everything you need (hardware side). When you goto flash via network, does your XBox show you an IP address?

I found out why i couldn't flash my bios. My so called "NEW" Xbox had a defective sh*tty Thomson DVD. Got a clue when i couldn't load any of my original games. AT that point i thought, come on, the game should load at least when chip is off or something... So i tried my old sh*tty Thomson drive to see if it wuold work, well guess what, it did. Now i'm pissed cuz i just realised that i was pulling my hair off for nothing....

FTPing is alot easier once you get past the network problems. i cant imagine having to make a disc everytime i want to load a new dashboard skin onto my XB.

I would imagine yes, but i just went with the easy way first. But when it comes to getting the Xbox ip and all, what do you guys use ? Your dashboard or your Chip's network menu ?

I finally ftp'ed out/in of my XBOX. I don't know what i was doing wrong but i used this tutorial and got it working on first try with some pretty nice transfer rate.

if your too scared to check to see if your console has been banned or not why waste members time here asking how to check if the console you use is banned or not then not bother doing it

you wont get banned as when it checks it signs you out, well not unless your console has been flagged already, but then nothing can stop you getting banned

Supposedly if you go on xbox.com and request a repair of your console and it goes through you are not banned yet. If it says temporarily unavailable you are banned. Not sure if this has been confirmed or not.

if you got a benQ just flash to 1.41 non-stealth...if you are not flagged for ban or already banned this is safe firmware...
