Okay, before I say what my problem is, first let me say that I have read EVERY single tutorial, guide, and I have searched every possible forum, and my question still can not be answered by anyone! I am running a brand new X3 modchip on an Xbox v1.6. Yes!!! I did try both FTP and DVD flashing methods for the X3_3294 v1.6 bios ....and it will NOT work!!! In fact, I have tried EVERY single X3 v1.6 bios currently available for the X3. And YES, all of the Bios I have tried I got from xbins, without exception. The ONLY two bios that will work on my Xbox are X3_2913 v1.6, and X3_2914 v1.6. ALL of the other bios I have tried FLASH correctly (i.e. the computer flashes the chip, first a yellow load meter, followed by a second green load meter) and then shut down my Xbox automatically, BUT none of them will allow me to boot up to the X3 bios. They ALL stop my machine from booting up into the X3 bios (i.e. my machine just repeatedly turns itself off immediately after I push the eject button to try and load the X3 bios screen). I can still boot to the microsoft dash by pushing only the power button, and I can still access the Flash Bios screen by pushing both the power and eject buttons at the same time. But, ONLY the X3_2913 v1.6 and X3_2914 v1.6 bios will allow me to boot to the X3 bios screen. Once again I have tried everything! And I have read every forum and post that I can find on the topic. Please understand that I have been researching and working on this same problem for 3 weeks straight! Please don't ask me if I'm sure that I downloaded the right bios for my Xbox, and where I got it from. The answer is Yes! I have an Xbox v1.6, and Yes! every single bios I have tried for the X3, except the two I mentioned (X3_2913 v1.6 and X3_2914 v1.6), fail to load the X3 bios screen, and also prevent the machine from powering on by pushing the eject button. And, Yes! I got ALL the bios I have tried from xbins. One thing I should mention is that I did not install the Xecuter 3 modchip myself. Llama installed the chip for me, and it appears to be working fine, other than the issues I have described. You might ask: why not just keep using one of the two X3 bios that do work? Well, the answer is that neither the X3_2913 v1.6 or the X3_2914 v1.6 bios will save my settings. I have tried to disable auto boot to X3 config live, setting Avalaunch 40.9.3 as my default dash, but the settings NEVER take, or save. Likewise, the quicklaunch settings also do not save. You also might think to ask if I have tried any other bios besides the ones for Xbox version 1.6. Once again, the answer is yes, but of course they would not FLASH correctly (i.e. no yellow loading bar, followed by a green loading bar, followed by a system shutdown). Can anyone help me? Please!?!? I am now desperate!

It sounds like the eeprom on your x3 chip is bad or needs to be initialized. I'd boot the 2914 and run the x3_erase.xbe

I think you can get that on xbins in the old bios area for x3. I may have even been included in the bios rar file.

When checking the install, is there something specific I should be looking for that causes the problems I'm having? I sent it to Llama for the install, and I have contacted them about a possible bad install, but they assure me that if the Flashbios menu comes up, that my modchip is working fine. And the menu does come up when pushing eject and power at the same time. Any thoughts on that DJ?

Thanks for the hints both of you, but I finally got it working! I started by checking the install per DJBOOBY's suggestion, and despite Llama's guarantee that everything was perfect. I opened my Xbox, removed both the HDD, and the DVD-rom, and then carefully took a look at the inside. I saw the X3 chip sitting there, and I examined the soldering, and it all looked great, So I figured what the hell, and decided to carefully remove the X3 chip from it's resting position on the pins (which are soldered to the mother board), just to take a look at the chip. Then I put it back on the pins, once again carefully, this time making sure that it was pushed down all the way, and resting frimly against the pins. I figured maybe the X3 just got seperated "the tiniest of hairs" from the pins during shipment. I hooked my Xbox back up, and voila! X3_3294 v1.6 flawless and saving settings. Thanks for the suggestions, and I hope my issue helps someone else in the future. My suggestion, now, check the install before thinking of messing with the eeprom. Thanks again guys.

Amazingly b0y's suggestion would have made sense too. Flashbios does not use pins 13 and 14 and neither does the evox bios. Only reason I post this is in case anyone else researching a similar problem should happen to browse your rather useful thread.
