Need help flashing - Xbox 1.6b X3CE

Hi peeps,

I have flashed my xbox using the "X3 3108.bin" I had the switches in the following position.

off, on , off, off, off.

The flashing seems to have gone through ok but I get fragging on the XBOX. I dont know what to do. I have tried the other banks and they dont seem to have the flashbios I am after. Have I stuffed my chip?

If the switch configuration you mentioned was the ONLY way to access FlashBIOS, then flashing over it wasn't the best solution!!!

You've probably flashed the wrong BIOS to your chip and probably have a 1.6b (although you've hardly given any information).

You haven't many options:

1. Hotflash with another working chip.
2. Install in another Xbox (1.0-1.5) and flash with the correct BIOS).
3. Get another X3.

If that was the only way I could get to flashbios then how could I flash it any other way? Yes I have an XBOX 1.6b I put that in the subject.

Not from your current Xbox/Chip config.

As I said, you'd either need to flash it from another Xbox (pre 1.6b) or hotswap with another working chip.

Flashing over the bank you booted from is never a good idea, especially when (I'm assuming) you probably tried bank 1234 to begin with and realised you couldn't boot from it!

I think I might have found someone who can reflash it for me. For future reference, how can I flash a different bank to the one I booted with? Do I change the switches once booting into flashbios?

Yes - it's all in the Flashbios tutorial. If you manage to only boot from bank 1234 then set switches to bank 5678 once you've booted up.

i.e. only on on off off works, so once in FlashBIOS set to off on off off.

If he were to boot 3.0.1 he can only not see but the Bios still functions properly right?

Well if he were to boot one of the 301 bios', then wait a few seconds, then use "A" to select the Network Flash, (It's the first selection) then he could flash via http if he remembers what the IP was the first time right?

Unfortunately, no. This isn't like the Focus (1.4) issue with FlashBIOS 2.27. The BIOS doesn't actually boot at all on a 1.6b. It's to do with the RAM timings (I believe).

You must use 3.0.3 on a 1.6b if you want to boot to FlashBIOS.

If I get a 1.1 - 1.5 version xbox will I be able to flash it then? as in put flashbios 3.03 back on

If you've got 1.0-1.5 you will be able to load your backup and flash successfully. (don't use the v16plus bios)
Then you can flash your other bank (or your backup) to 3.0.3. if required.

Someone else may be able to tell me coz i'm unsure of this:
If in this circumstance, he put the X3 into the 1.1 xbox and flashed using v16plus, would it work properly? i.e. it would Frag, but once back in the 1.6B it would function properly?

Yes - If you had access to a 1.0-1.5 Xbox, you'd at the very least be able to boot the backup BIOS.

Once in, you can Flash banks 1234 with X3 3108 v16plus. It won't boot on the 1.0-1.5 correctly, but will work fine from these banks once back in your 1.6.

If all's well, then I'd immediately go into X3 CL and flash the Backup BIOS with a 256k image of FlashBIOS 3.0.3, so you never have to worry about this again.
