I just installed my X3 on a 1.0 xbox. The blue light comes on, on the X3 chip and on the Front Pannel the Red X lights up along with the HDD light. The xbox tries to boot 3 times and FRAGs. Blinking red and green lights. I checked the DO solder point and also resoldered the pin header several times. Any other suggestions?

Many thanks.

I don't want to start anything, but it is most likely your fault. Stop trashing the chip and the company just because you messed up something and can't get it to work. Just chill out, take it slow and you will be helped through the process to narrow down your problem. Patience young one, patience.

One more update.. If I hold the power button for a few seconds (the procedure to disable the mod chip) the system will boot if I put in my original xbox drive. However, no luck with the quick power on as the mod chip will not turn on.. :(

i'm no expert in modding but i've already successfully installed two x3's, one on a v1.4 and another on a v1.6. on your first post u said that "The blue light comes on the X3 chip" the x3 should have 2 blue lights. one of them is 5 volts or something and the other is the d0 or something but i'm not 100% sure. but both lites should be on. i always suggest doing a continuity test and maybe u should do one too. test the d0 wire too. good luck mayn

The blue lights seem to be on the bottom of the X3. I can see a blue glow underneath the mod chip but it's hard to tell how many lights are on underneath. I used the pin header install so it's difficult to see exactly where and how many lights are on under the chip, but i'll double check for 2 lights.

Ok, here is the latest. Both blue lights are lit when I turn on the PC, so the 3.3 and 5 volt connections seem to be ok. Also, if I disconnect the mod chip the machine does boot fine to the ms console, which I read somewhere else that means my D0 connection is ok. So now, I'm not sure what to check.

:D :p
Ok, I got it working.... What I did is the following. I resoldered the LPC points for the 5th time after cleaning the tip of my soldering iron very well, then I put a piece of electrical tape over the solder connections thinking maybe one of the points was grounding out, and that did the job. Not sure if it was the tape or the resolder, but who cares it works!!! Thanks to all that posted to assist.

XLINK KAI and 30 millisecond rule

So what is the deal with XLINK KAI? Apparantly its an alternative for XBOX LIVE but it doesn't work for the 360, because as far as the 360 goes, there is a 30 millisecond ping limit. It works for the original XBOX but not the 360. So this begs the question...."Is the 30 millisecond response time problem encoded into the actual 360 or just the games"? I'd love to get this to work. I'm in South Florida and I know a lot of people near me, who have fast internet just like me, who would love to get this to work.

i agree that you should pay for your games but M$ should not screw you out of opting to use another service. if you buy a car they don't say you can only drive in one city or only use one brand of gas. this is nothing more than a cash grab buy a greedy company. if this was a necessaty the original xbox would have had the same ping limit. this was put in to ensure that you could only play on live. M$ = greed

Yeah I don't have the money to afford 300$ in games and whatnot. I would pay for LIVE, but I'd just get banned anyway. Oh well, guess I'll just have to stick with open source multiplayer games when I have time to relax and play.
