JTAG Need help/schematics for the Xbox 360 HDD Connecter Piece

I wnt to change the voltage from 5v to 12v on this piece:

I just need to know which wires carry the power so I can cut them and add an external 12v psu.

Anyone familiar with this? Thanks.

You can always use a multimeter you know, also for someone carrying this kind of mods you should have one :rolleyes2:.

I wouldn't know, because all of the wires carry some voltage and the 5v are split up, maybe not, I don't know.

just attempted to cut the yellow cord on the piece and it didn't work, but the psu i used with the 3.5 hdd only turned on when the xbox did? strange, but it means that I did ground and power it correctly, i just used the incorrect wire on the piece

And you can always look up 2.5 HDD pinout to find the power. I know I tried to do a 3.5 mod in a slim but just gave up.

I will use an external adapter for 12v power but should I ground it using the adapter too, or use the hdd's black cord?

You could always use the 12v on the bottom of the board under the power port if you are going to already use.an external adapter why not just get a 3.5 caddy and use external

Well when I remove the adapter from the wall, the console shuts-off as if a hard drive was removed, but it won't show-up in freestyle dash.
