GENERAL Need Help Switching Drives

Ok i have a lite-on dvd drive that just went bad and wont even try to read games anymore so i another Hitachi drive that i want to replace it. what do i have to do to make it work in the xbox?

ps. im new at dvd drive flashing but i dont have the equiptment to do it.

1st off your going to need to get all the tools required just to get the key from your liteon drive u say its not working what exactly is wrong with it ??/

could be a laser if its not reading games ? what does it exactly say when u place a game into the drive on the xbox dashboard ??

Why not fix the Lite-On, likely just a laser? You could also get a good used or refurb drive. Putting a Hitachi in a XBOX that previously had a Lite-On is going to be troublesome in the future, not to mention Hitachi's are crappy IMO. The XBOX will also not be safe for XBOX Live use.

Additionally, what Hitachi is it? 32-59 or 78/79?

ahh in your 1st post u said u dont have the equipment ??
have u tried to replace the dvd lens ?

if so there is loads of guides on how to read the firmware i will find it for you and post

and if you are planning on playing on live a sammy would not work because MS thinks that your drive performs ap 2.5 so it will trigger the checks and fail them because sammy drives cant perform the checks

Unfortunately, you cannot spoof drives anymore. If you are replacing a Lite-On you must replace it with a Lite-On.

As suggested above, the easiest way to do this is to replace the laser. This will save you $20-$25.
