LITEON DG-16D4S - SLIM need help with drive swaps

I need your help I looked around the forms but didn't find what I was looking for, so hoping I'm posting in the right place. my nephew broke his xbox and now I have to find the dvd drive and cant find one, the drive that's on his xbox is a dg-16d4s 1071 and I was wondering if it can be replaced with a dg-16d4s 9504 and if it can to extract the key from the old drive to the new drive can I just use the x360usb pro.

I think he meant to recycle the one from the broken one, no flashing required (for OFW), assuming the 1071 is the original for that console.

If the disc fails to read after that, you may want to adjust the DVD pot on the laser to match the old one.

Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have a question. I have an xbox with a liteon 83850c drive and I have a spare hitachi 47 drive. I want to use the liteon drive with 0800 firmware to backup the new XGD3 games but its in my xbox. I was wondering though if I could spoof the dvd keys and swap the drives to use the hitachi drive in my xbox and have the liteon hooked up to a computer to make backup disks. I know this would work, but is it safe online? Would I be able to do this without getting banned? I have been using LT Plus 3.0 firmware to run backups on my liteon drive in my xbox for quite some time now and I have used the xbox to power the drive while flashing and I still have not gotten banned, but would this possibly be the "last straw" so to speak and get me banned, or is it possibly safe? Also, I'm running windows vista and I have my sata ports right on my motherboard and I power the drive with my xbox, although I'm working on building a molex adapter to connect with the dvd drives power cable thingy, and I have done numerous flashes no problem. Any help would be well appreciated and I am very thankful for any responds or help.
