Need Help With Flashing

I have a xbox 360 slim with a trinity motherboard and a DG-16D5S dvd drive 1175. My xbox 360 have allready been rgh'd and is running freestyle dash 3. I would like to flash my dvd drive but according to some research the only way to flash my current dvd drive is to order a replacement pcb. The new pcb is a bit expensive so i would like to know since my xbox allready have the rgh mod, is it possible to replace my dvd drive with a different model that can be flashed without needing to buy a new pcb? Can i buy any dvd drive and flash the drive with my dvd key and then flash it to be able to play backup games? If so, what dvd drive would you recomnend?

I don't understand why u need a flashed drive in a rgh xbox. That said u can put any drive in a rgh as long as the DVD keys match. Also that u have nofcrt enabled.

Thanks for the quick response. Lets just say that i want to "backup my own games" and want to install them on my rgh. Do you have a dvd drive that you can recommend to me that i should buy that will be easy to flash and not needing a replacement pcb or kamakazi hack. Is there a drive that is software only?

FSD has a game ripping function, if that's your true intent no need to flash drive!

I have copied/backup games that i want to load on my 360 hard drive. I know about freestyle dash dvd extract. But i want to be able to play backup games on disc and be able to extract a backup game to my hard drive using my xbox dvd drive.

I can copy original games to my xbox with the dvd extract function on freestyle dash. I want to be able to play/copy burned discs on my xbox.

I googled and alot of people say that the old dvd drives in the fat xbox 360 is easiest to mod. Can i cut of the stands and put it in my slim?

Yes, it will work if you flash your drive with the console's dvd key and use the nofcrt.bin patch when building your nand.

Like jsinger has told you, any dvd drive can be used in a RGH/R-Jtag console as long as you use the right patches. Only downside is a lot of modification is needed to fit a phat drive into a slim.
