I did a similar repair to a console with all the resistors missing from the HANA area. However the person who brought me the board had also attacked the board with a screwdriver in their temper, so a bunch of traces etc were destroyed. I just handed it back.

Simple solution here for the OP - if you have to ask how to fix it, you shouldn't be doing it.

Send it to someone to repair.

That happened to me but only with one risistor and i fixed it by buying a new resistor from radio shack and putting it on. a tip for getting the new resistor on is attach wires to both ends of it then tin the wires and press them down with a flathead screwdriver while pressing it down with the iron. dont leave the iron down there too long or you will burn your chip.

if you have awful soldering skills do not even attempt to fix this it is a waste of time and will cost about $15-20 for the resistors at radio shack

Wow, Some People should not be allowed anywhere near soldering equipment. :)
Next time practice on some electronic boards before you work on your xbox and one more thing to solder on xbox motherboard you just need to put the wire on the place u want to solder and just touch with your soldering iron really quick and that 's it don't stay too long

1. I have no idea why you're replying to his post. He's not the OP.

2. That's not how to solder. Check out my soldering videos. You feed the wire into the solder point. Doing it your way just increases the risk of mashing the wire.

a little offtopic question! Can I use alt points without scraping? Primary points are intact, i just find some of alt points easier to solder. for example stby_clk --> r2r6

Because it's not a hard point to solder to, if you can solder.

The alt point is a via pad, which if you mess up means more work to fix it.

i ripped my stby_clk pad when i used the wires provided with CR for the first time (not that I'm blaming the CR wires..read on) ... up to now I was using very thin multithreaded wires from old scsi/ide cables.
So I think people should be extra careful with thicker wires especially when they have partially soldered them and try to desolder them to solder them back better...cause some threads might be still stuck when you pull it away....thats how I hurt my pad anyway.
(Maybe think about using thinner wires for PLL/CLK if you're planning on a CR rev.C)

I just bought a 4gb Trinity at a local pawn for 100 bucks since I have the hard drives. Problem solved. Will practice alot before I even try anything like this again, My back still hurts from leaning over a workbench for two days for nothing. :D

Your friend or you should had never touched the motherboard in the first place. This is totally not your job and you are need for a repair.

Give the guy a break. I wasn't a seasoned solderer but yet managed to solder a variety of things such as a few resistors in that area as well.

Mdevine79 -

If it was free than have at it. Take your time and be patient. In time you will understand what it takes to get the job done the right way! Honestly what do you have to lose?

100 bucks on the console he just picked up?

If he can't afford to throw this money down the crapper then I would think twice about even touching it until I can solder at an adequate level. By that I mean a solid week of practicing.

a friend sent me this picture of a complete mess!
i don't have an opened fat at the moment to check, does anyone know where i could draw a line from the other side of the motherboard to connect it to the hana resistor, and how many Ohms the resistor is ?
Much appreciated!
