I have a similar problem. I've modded 3 xboxes before this one, but they were all v1.5 or less. I have always used the Xecuter 2.6 Lite chip. The other three times everything went smoothly and I was able to flash using a X2 Lite BIOS 4981.06 cd (I made a while ago, so i dont remember much more about it).

Well, when I tried to flash this latest xbox it flashed, shuts down, and restarts 3 times before hanging and flashing green and red. This version is a 1.6....should I also try flashing the second bank or could there be another solution? I dont want to flash the second bank and have the same thing happen again.

I think you've flashed the wrong BIOS.

You need to flash a compatible BIOS for the 1.6. Get a hold of X2 5035 (the latest version there is). You'll see 2 BIN files (one that's for 'old' and the other for 1.6 Xboxs).

Ok, please refresh my memory. I have the X2 5035 bios (which is 512k). I have made a 100mb dummy file. Now i remember something about changing that 512 into 1mb? or is that necessary? Can i just burn the 512k and the 100mb dummy to the cd?

You're on the right track. What I'd do is make a 1mb file (in the first 2x 256k banks put X2 5035, in the last 2x 256k banks put FlashBIOS). X2 BIOS manager (or whatever it's called!) can do this for you. If you boot to FlashBIOS on from bank 2, and flash a 512kb BIOS, only bank 1 on your chip wil be flashed. You need a 1mb file to flash both banks.

Well for now my bank 1 is messed with the bad bios. Do you recommend flashing bank 2 with FlashBIOS or X2 5035? And to refresh my memory, although it says banks 1 and 2, there are actually 4 all of which are 256k, correct?

Bank 1's "read point" is at byte 1 of the 1MB chip. Bank 2's "read point" is at the first byte after the 512KB mark on the 1MB chip. In X2CM you do have access to all 4 256KB banks, but 3 and 4 will only ever be used as storage, more or less. Check out the 2/4 banks link in my sig. I see this question often enough I've decided to add the link. :D

Bah... too late to edit.

Banks 2 and 4 will generally wind out as storage. 3 is the first bank read when booting from switch bank 2...

Does the first bank boot the bios? As I understand it FlashBIOS always starts writing at byte 1, so unless you have a 1MB file it wouldn't touch bank 2.
