need help xbox 1.6

guys heres what i got.
xbox 1.6 running executur 3 ce modchip /lpc rebuild 1.6
brand new out of the box. w/ original controller.
samsung dvd rom drive/WD 8gig

i installed the modchip. boots up fine.
gets to the screen flash bios 3.01
from there i can't scroll up/down w/ gamepad
so i am unable to flash any bios.

run modchip off mode. xbox boots up like it normally does.
no problems playing original cds, etc.

tried playin around the dip switches rechecked all wires.
lights turn on correctly like the guide on teamexector site.

any suggestions? could it be that my soldering is bad?
should i resolder everything?

what u can do is check ur controller port cables, there was a list of some 3rd party controllers but thats old news. check soldering again!

If you have a dvd controller try that as well with the dongle in

i was thinking tho could it be frozen? or is it really teh controller? because i can use the controller fine in ms bios. well if u guys believe its controller problem, i can go out and buy the xbox dvd playback kit.

just wanted to see if there was another alternative b4 i did that.
and also i just resoldered everything. checked it a billion times.

detects my hd/ dvd rom perfectly in flash bios and runs ms bios flawless.

are you using the joystick or the d-pad?

i tried both the directional and joystick
the gamepad that came w/ my xbox.
i think its a microsoft s controller.

See if you can get your hands on an older original xbox controller as an attempt. Is your xbox one of these xmas deal boxs cause that seems to be where the problem is arising

If you bought the Xbox as a Xmas bundle, then try the DVD movie playback kit, as previously mentioned.

my xbox wasnt one of those xmas deals. but im thinking of purchasing the dvd playback kit and see whats up.

also from other forums they mentioned either using a dvd playback kit remote, or and old ms controller as well.

just wondering how does the old ms controller look?
sorry its my first xbox i've ever own/seen.

Just a side note... I got my 1.6 box in the xmas bundle and the controller works just fine.

i needed the dvd remote controller to scroll. you might try flashing with a boot disk. that might work; not sure.

those old controllers are monsters. they are much bigger than the s cpntroller & the black and white buttons are at the top of the other buttons
