No you don’t have to; you can rebuild the LPC with wires if you want. Or you can skip the entire rebuild and have a non-working mod. If you choose the latter, don’t blame the X3 when nothing works.

Hi. I've a samsung ms28 spoofed as liteon and I've read that with LT+, spoofed drives won't be supported anymore.
So I bought a stock Liteon DG-16D2S 74850C and want to know how do I flash it. Do I need to do a full dump with additional H/W, like spears etc. or if I already have the drive key from my Samsung, is it simply enough to insert it into the firmware file and flash the liteon drive (no need for dumping)?

if the key is a liteofw or all the other files ie serial/dummie/key etc then you will beable to flash to a new liteon drive and it should work fine.

No, You guys haven't understood me. I don't have Liteon's OFW. In fact, I don't have any serial/key/dummy files etc. To get any of them, I need additional hardware and/or soldering. Don't want that. The only thing from liteon that I have right now is pure hardware - the disc reader itself
(the drive is taken from another console). And I know it's stock firmware.

People say spoofing isn't supported with LT and onward, but I was in the exact same position as you... My samsung was dead, so I flashed they key into a lite-on drive. The FW was just LT, and it seemed to work.. so..
Give it a try? You should be able to get the key from the samsung, and just flash LT+ for Lite-ons to the lite-on drive, spoofing the key in.

you will not need any additional hardware
your original drive for that xbox is a lite-on, is it not?
if that is the case, just load up your samsung dump in the source tab.
this will display the drive key.
what type of lite-on the samsung is spoofed as will determine the LT+ you want to use for the lite-on flash.
if the original drive was a 7xxx drive, use 7xxx firmware loaded in the target slot.
once you have the target firmware manually loaded, just press "spoof to target"
now you will have lite-on firmware ready to flash with the correct key
next, erase the lite-on you have and flash

I will do all that you guys wrote tommorow. I need to read a lil' bit more about erasing and flashing in the Jungleflasher tutorial first
