Okay I'm new to the forum and that's why I'm posting here.

I just got an Xbox 360 console PAL from Australia and Want to backup my first game gears of war.

The reason why I want to do this is the same as others, to keep the good copy brand new unscratched, just about every game I own I have copies to because then the copy gets scratched and not the original, I'm a cluts

Mines an Xbox 360 Premium Pal console with a Samsung drive, I'm not sure what model number because I haven't opened the Xbox 360 yet.

My computer Specs are:
TSSTcorp SH-W162Z Drive
SATA SiI 3114
Asus SLI-Deluxe Motherboard

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I've got the okay to start flashing?

-Thanks
Adam

Re: Can I flash my Xbox 360?

Hi Adam,

Absolutely this can be done - your first step would be to read through the guide;
http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/details/id=61.html

I'm also in Australia, so yes the guide works downunder as well :)

Okay an update,

So I've finally opened my Xbox 360 (took my time :p) and I have a Toshiba Samsung Model TS-H943
F/W= MS28
Drive

I'm having much difficulty flashing this drive as I have an Asus a8n-sli deluxe motherboard.

Is there any way I can flash the drive easily?

You will need a VIA PCI SATA card mate or you can do a VCC 2 wire mod but it's a tad risky so for the price buy a SATA PCI card

Erm search the net for a card containing the chipset 'VIA 6421A' and you should be fine mate

This is a quote from Textbooks TUT....

MS28 Instructions
Newer Xbox 360 systems have been shipping with Samsung
drives with a newer firmware. This firmware, MS28, has certain
lockout routines and can not be normally flashed via MTKFlash like
an MS25 can. There are a couple workarounds to get the drive
flashed. The VCC switch method requires you to open up the drive,
desolder a resistor, and use a switch or wires to read/write to the
drive. The Bad Flash Recovery method does not require
desoldering/soldering, but will only work with VIA chipsets. The
preparation for flashing an MS28 drive is the same as if you were
flashing an MS25. The only difference is the actual flashing.

Like it states mate you will need to get a VIA chipset (6421a being popular)

Thanks I put one on order today, I'm hoping it will work with this motherboard (Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe) but if it won't I'll try putting in the old computer (socket A Asus, can't remember what model number  )

Anyway thanks for your help!

Rofl, no just no...

Anyway I wanted to know what equipment/stuff needed in order to backup games. Once I get the SATA Card the first thing I want to do is backup my Gears of War Game.

What is the easiest method?

I have a TSSTCorp CD/DVDW SH-W162Z
Drive in the computer which is a samsung dual layer burner.

Will this work using the hotswap method?

Or Do I need to connect my Xbox 360s drive to the computer in order to backup games

Thanks again

I was asking the city, as if you were in mine I'd offer to help in person... but you're not....

Regarding backups - yes read the tutorial as Primitive mentioned. You should also get the DVD reader at;
http://www.xecuter.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=54_52&products_id=246&osCsid=f66dcf61213ef523939b74d912abf2bb
It is AUD$45, and means that you can put your xbox back togeather, flash this one with Kreon firmware and away you go. :)

Okay I haven't flashed my xbox 360 yet (sata card still on order) and I wanted to know the best method for backing up games?

I've heard you can connect the X360 to the PC and do it that way. Using Xtreme 3.3 firmware.

What is the difference between older hacked firmware to newer?

And what other methods is there to copy games easily?
