i'm looking at the tutorials for using jungleflasher to flash dvd drives, but they all require a ck3pro. I want to revert my drive to stock. I flashed my drive about 2 years ago. the xbox is a zephyr with a benq drive. at the time of flashing i used jungleflasher v0.1.78 beta (183) I have my old files, just cant find the right tutorial.

would updating through M$ get rid of the old firmware on the drive?

Use the stock firmware included in LT folders these are easily found. google is your friend.

Follow latest jungleflasher guide but instead of selecting LT firmware load the Benq firmware as source. Spoof key across, write and hey presto.

If its a zephyr i dont doubt that its a cold solder joint. Make sure there isnt anything shorting anything else out. Check for loose pieces of metal etc. Send it into a professional repair shop, but my honest opinion would be to save up for a slim. Much less stress in the long run..

so thats 5-6 years for your console, which is good time for any modern electronics. For a older revision xbox console it is very long time, you should be happy you had a good one. On your place i will make x clamp fix - its cheap and it will work for a few months, so you got time to get money for a new slim. Or maybe wait for a new generation console announcement, its only up to you.

edit: You should be able to sell console for parts for cca 30-40 euros/dollars if your drive is fully functional. If you have hdd you can have even more from it

actually i got this console about a year or two ago. heres the story behind it. My friend was just walking down his street one day when he say an angry woman walk out of her house with this xbox in its packaging and was about to throw it. my friend got it from here and braught it over to my place. we checked it out and it had rrod. a month or 2 after, i did some reading, and then did the xclamp fix on it. that fixed the console and it worked. then i proceeded to flash the dvd firmware on it, and that worked too. later i learned that i could have jtagged this console, but it was too late because i played a burned copy of a game and it updated the dash just above jtagable one. this past summer i attempted the rgh hack on this console, and that worked for a little bit. my soldering for one point wasnt that great, so i had very inconsistent boot times. But i was able to play gears of war 3 and prototype 2 on it. when i attempted to fix the solder point thats right underneath the cpu/gpu it went bad. When i tried to use the alt point of soldering to the resistor and running a wire above, the resistor deciced to come off. So i took off my rgh mod and flash stock firmware on it. i booted it to check if it still worked, and wa la, it did. after that i just left it in my closet for a while, and the other day when i booted it it had rrod. for me, this console was a great learning experience. I might take it to a shop and get it fixed, or attempt to do it myself. oh by the way, this is the halo 3 limited edition xbox 360 that came out with halo 3.
