I know very little little about high-end A/V hookups so I wanted to get some opinions. My existing equipment is my Xbox (duh) and a 27" RCA TV that has A/V ports on the front, and some "G-Link" crap on the back I'm sure isn't even supported anymore. I want to know the best, and easiest way to hook a mean surround sound system up. Reading the "definitive sound guide" sticky, I wasn't sure if I could hook everything up because my TV ONLY has those ports on the front and to my understanding they are all "input" ports. So, I WOULD be able to use the surround with the Xbox, just NOT while watching regular TV, as the sound comes out thorugh the crappy built in speakers. I'm trying to get something SERIOUS here folks. I mean I want the dam house to shake when that BITCH is on and crankin' ...I want my BALLS to jiggle from the noise while whippin some ass in Halo 2:cool: , I WANT the dam COPS called from all the noise I'm making because I pumped it all the way up and I disturbed the old people trying to screw next door:D ..........I'm done.

Opinions?

What's your budget!? You need a decent Dolby Digital 5.1 amp with speakers and sub-woofer. You also need an Advanced scart (Microsoft) for the Xbox - it has a scart output (for video) and optical output (for REAL surround sound). From what you said, your TV doesn't have a scart socket - if that's right, you'll need to get some form of scart to AV plug adapter.

Thanks! Budget isn't limitless but I'm willing to invest a good "G" or so. I was thinking I'd need something like that. I'll soon be investing in a big screen for the room I keep my Xbox in. I recently got rolling with xbmc, so I'll have a nice media center setup. I'll check into that adapter though.

If your investing in a big screen then try to get one that is HD Ready. You can then get the high def AV pack for your xbox, mind you most HD Ready tvs will upscale the pic. Ive got mine on a 50" DLP set and the pic is absolutely brill.

Back to the sound, you can pick up a decent yamaha or denon amp that has plenty of inputs on it for around the £400 mark and you can get a decent set of speakers for 400 upwards and then have the room vibrating with sound. GR 2 is excellent on 5.1.:D

A good place for advice and opinions is www.avforums.com. Make sure you use decent quality leads to. Any probs give me a shout.
