I'm having a bit of trouble with my xbox. I installed Xecuter 2.6 flashed the bios and all that, but every game i played kept freezing on me, original and burned games. So i thought it was a bad solder point somewhere, so i decided to resolder everything all over but my games still kept freezing. So i opened my xbox back up and saw that it was overheating, that little fan next to the processor's heatsink wasnt working. So i decided to just take the modchip off, but now my xbox frags red and green. anyone have any idea on what could be wrong?

Is the pinheader still soldered on? Mine was FRAGging the other day with just the xapter on without the modchip, but when I took it off, it stopped FRAGging.

Any error codes on screen? Depending on how you did your install if you replaced the MS dash with something else the box will error because the MS BIOS won't allow the unsigned code of the mod dash to run. This may not be a physical install issue, but software related.

if you have removed the chip you may have a few splashes of solder on the board creating a contact which is causing the frag,if you have definatly put the ms dash back on as whoopin said, and you are getting frag this is normaly the case if there is no error codes, especially if this has only started happening since you removed the chip, sounds to me its this for a fact, double chek for unwanted solder splashes

alright i checked for solder splashes and nothing everything is clean.. i think i put all the M$ files back, i did a retail hard drive reinstall using slayers cd before taking the modchip out. that method does put all the original files back correct??

I don't think that is a M$ files problem because you should at least get a screen "service required" with errors codes like 13, 14 or 16 as these are the error # associated with dash launch errors.

Maybe you damaged a trace while trying to remove the pin header, take a closer look on the lpc area and use a magnifying glass if necessary.

Do you get an error message on the screen with the chip disabled?

Sounds like you damaged a trace when you were installing the chip. Take a close look around the LPC area. I would also check the D0 area, and look for solder splashes.

Where in the hell is Chicagoland?

Is that some kind of theme parK?

Oh, screw Xbox Live... it sucks anyway!

Actually look for burnt traces near your D0... :)
