I currently have a Liteon slim 0225 drive that i havent dumped the key from due to a in continuing to give me a slimkey failure. I then began to wonder why it wasnt working so i decided to take a closer look at the pcb and the chip and noticed that the previous owner before this tried to attempt what looks like the kamikaze method on this board and didnt do the research and thought this was a windbond chip but it is a MXIC. The drive goes into vender mode and myx360usb reads the drive and displays the drive properties but i cannot dump the dummy.bin or key. Is there any hope left for this drive?

I do not no the previous owner. This was a slim that i was given to for free and was just told that is doest read games, but taking a further look into the problem i noticed a little hole in the chip that looks exactly what it would look like if you were trying to unlock the spi on WINDBOND chip.
And not i have not tried Sputnik probe.
Does it look like the wires have been resoldered on the PCB? maybe they changed the board and it no longer has the correct dvd key

Sounds like someone has ballsed it up.
I would hold out for the coolrunner and jtag and redump the keys from the nand.

Could be you have an incompatible SATA chipset. That's why mine wouldn't be dumped yesterday. But that's not it cause your using an x360USB.
No its the original board.
Wouldnt the problem be since they tried the wrong spi unlock method by drilling into the chip since it isnt a windbond? That is the conclusion i'm coming to ..

you could always dump the nand and get the key that way then try and reflash the drive

Should i get the drive repaired or should I just get the keys from the nand? if so can you or someone direct me in the right direction on how to prepare for that. Because i've been researching and from what ive found is that for extracting key from nand im going to need the Nand-X and tbr coolrunner-II for slim drive. Is this correct?

send the pcb to a pro in your area and see if they can do something with it,
