I installed an X3CE chip, flashed and made an Evox disc which loads up just fine but when I try to FTP the Xbox with the PC it says "connected" and then "lost connection". I have a cable running from the Xbox to the PC ethernet card but no lights are on which gives me the impression that the connection is not coming through. I am using a FastCate Networking Cable which is a Patch Cable (Ethernet Cable) which is probably the cause of ths problem. If I use a Crossover Cable instead will this fix the problem? The networking on my Xbox and C go something sorta like this:

XBOX

[Network]
Ip = 192.168.1.3
Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway = 192.168.1.1

PC

Ip = 192.168.1.2
Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway = 192.168.1.1

So it seems everything is good but the cord I am geussing, right?

You need a crossover cable when connecting directly to the PC...you can also FTP right through X3CL...just a thought. But yes you will need to get a crossover cable...

Also, 1 thing you didn't mention. You should have
SetUpNetwork=No
StaticIp=Yes

You also may need to turn off any firewalls if you continue to have problems connecting.

The tutorial I used said to have them like this:

SetUpNetwork=Yes
StaticIp=No

And then I read a post in here saying to have StaticIP set for Yes as well so I tried that too. I don't know hopw to FTP from the X3, I look around in it and can't figure it out. Everyone says you can use X3 Live but when I go in there I don't have any options for FTPing.

One more thing, when I have the mod loaded, in the bottom left side of the screen where it says IP:, it looks like this:

IP: No Link!

SetUpNetwork if for DHCP or networking through a router, hub, etc...
StaticIp is for a direct connection, NIC to NIC, which is what you want. So armed with this new information go back and edit your evox.ini file the way it's supposed to be and get yourself a crossover cable.

P.S. Don't forget to disable your firewall/s.
