new 16D2S with 74850C question

just got a new lite on drive. my question is if i have the key from my old drive do i have to get the key off the new drive? do i need to back up the current FW thats on it?

i have flashed my old lite on several times but it was flashed before i got it.

I'm assuming you've acquired a new drive on its own that wasnt with an xbox. If thats the case then no u dont need to get the key off the new drive
