Hi All

I stupidly opened up a 360 E and went straight into a CR4 XL RGH2 install without checking the under the hood for the new chipset.

So i dumped the NAND, created ecc then wrote the ecc. Soldered up my CR4 XL on the top of the board and when i went to install the POST_OUT adapter, i realised I've wasted my time as it cannot be done. So i desoldered the CR4 XL, connected back up my 4GB NAND R/W adatper but it wasn't being detected.

So with the 4GB NAND R/W not plugged in and connected to my PC i cannot power on the 360. So i then desoldered the 4GB NAND R/W and cleaned up my NAND points (removed solder) and now i get a red dot.

So at this point i have red dot and no power.

Have i murdered this board? lol

Thank you

Based on what you've described above you have written the ecc to your console and then removed the R/W kit, correct? Your board is not murdered, you simply need to write back those first 50 blocks from your original nand dump.

Just remember, proper procedure is to plug the console in first, then connect the R/W kit to your PC.

just like to add that if you cannot get it to write back,or write back and still red dot,you mayyyy have damaged one of the nand pads.common issue and not hard to do even for a pro, those pads are super fragile.

My understanding from past installs is with the ecc written to the 1st 50 blocks i should still be able to power on the 360 but of course it would not boot to dashboard but give me a black screen.

Where im at now is it doesn't even power up and on the faceplate i get a red dot. This is why my NAND R/W is not being detected by my PC anymore.

I can post pictures of the NAND points later today as i wire up my 4GB NAND R/W one to many for multiple use. I also have my logs if need be but something tells me this is a goner.

Thank you

If that's the case nofelonies is probably right. Either way you should post pics of the board as is. If you've lifted a pad it should be clear.

Yeah sorry guys, i understand the importance of pictures but I'm at work and have no pics but will be home later so can upload my nand point how they look later on.

Note: This is not my NAND point (google images) but i have highlighted in red where my multimetre lights up and beeps if i touch these 2 points.

I think this is the issue because none of these points should have connectivity right?

pics may not do much good if you cant physically see damage yourself.ive seen these pads look perfect but be broken.might have to do some trace scraping and test with mm above and below nand points for continuity.before messin with all of that though,i would try to write original back once more, might of just been a bad write.

might also point out,if this 4gb qsb has been used multiple times.if reading/writing didnt work, check the points on qsb to nand points with meter and see do they make contact with the header pins for the cable hookup.could be a faulty qsb.

Last night i soldered back on my 4GB R/W and was able to write the original nand back onto the 360, but unfortunately I'm still getting a red dot on the faceplate and its not booting up.

Because its not mine, I had to replace it and bought another 360 E and thankfully this time it was a V6 with Winbond RAM, so my CR4 XL had no problems with it.

Thanks for helping out.
