GENERAL new ben q drive

You cannot just swap Drives without flashing the correct key to it.
Every console has a unique KEY and this is used in the flashing process.
Look here http://team-xecuter.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27 there are a few UK sellers and try a new laser.
New lasers come with a 'Anti-Static' solder blob so it needs to be removed before fitting. You can ask the re-seller to remove it for you. Some will but some will not.
If you are unsure how to carry out this task then I suggest you look into getting someone with more knowledge than your Mate to sort it for you.
The traders section has lots of peeps who can sort your problem quickly and easily. You will probably find one very close to you.

yep i know that it wud invole having to flash the drive with the original drive key from the hiatchi to spoof if, and since i dont use xbox live im not fussed about it been a ban. and i checked for the anti static solder blob but there wasnt one. belive me i know whats involved in spoofing a drive so no worrys there. as i said in my other post a friend has said he will lend me his xbox to spoof the working drive to my console, then i will spoof the ben q to work in his xbox console. if the ben q works then i know its ok. if his drive doesnt work in my xbox then i know theres some other fault with it. like i said it will prob be afew days before i post the results as im busy with work but i will deffo let u know how it goes. cheers.You cannot just swap Drives without flashing the correct key to it.

just make sure your mate is also not bothered about live. cause if you spoof your benq to see if it works in his then it could flag him for a ban! could your m8 not put 0800 fw on the benq to see if it backs up a game on your pc
good point! i never thought about getting my mates console flaged for a ban. well mabey ill be lucky and he will have a ben q drive lol chances of that eh.
and yea he shud be able to flash 0800 to it to test if it will back up games, its just gettin round to doing it with work and stuff.
so if it did back up a game with 0800 flashed to it would that just prove it isnt the laser then? if so whats the problem with the xbox console itself, coz if theres nothing wrong with the drive and its reading and backing up games its got to be the console right? coz the drive key is 100% right coz the flashed hiatchi drive was working before, playing all back ups i made and originals untill it just stopped, now the spoofed ben q is doing the same so if the ben q does back up games it has to be a console fault so what next?

Yes if it rips an original that will rule out the laser, and if it ain't the laser and is the console that's way over my knowledge, maybe one of the pros might be able to help with that
ok cheers for that, my mate is gonna lend me his xbox tonite and then im off to my other mates to do whats been sugested, ill flash ut with 0800 to see if it rips a games, and then spoof my mates drive to see if it works in my faulty xbox, this shud deffo give me a answer to if its the drives ive used or the console itself, so there will be an update on this late on tonite.

Using the old 0800 firmware? The most recent 0800 firmware (V3 I believe) is still in testing.
I just got my BenQ and want to flash it today. Is the latest 0800 FW v1.6 (ix16-Benq-0800)? Thanks in advance
Your issue isn't the console for sure. Its either the drive key or the laser. If you are using a key that is already saved on your pc. Don't. Pull the key from the Hitachi drive. This eliminates the key being a issue as you said it was in the box and working.
Side note, Every replacement drive I had to buy came from ebay. I have had not one issue ever. All worked fine. Im not saying it is impossible to get a drive that wont work, but as for it being a bad place to buy drives from is nonsense.

well it seems it must be a console issue, as the ben q worked perfect in my mates xbox and his working drive didnt work in my xbox, said the same thing, play dvd. it cant be a drive key issue as the hitachi drive WAS working so im stuck as to what it could be as i dont know much about the workings of a xbox console. any ideas anyone?
