That would be slick, but I'd prefer to have the option of just downloading and checksumming the latest bios using x3cl instead of downloading and flashing. That way if you get a bad flash (for whatever reason, as rare as it is) you can just go to the backup flashbios and re-flash the just-downloaded file.HarshReality said:

if it's possible then yea would be pretty cool. I haven't tried ava's ability to download apps but i have updated the dash through that updater but if that was in config live, it would also have to tell the chip to erase the current bios and write the new one in. Sort of like how you would flash the bios via ftp. Just go to the admin folder and drop it in the select banks and then it starts automatically on the xbox.HarshReality said:

getting really tired of the issues arising with the m8 bioses, would love a better alternative for my 1.6 with 2.6lite... as it is, that box just sits while i only use my 1.6/x3 box. love to have them both running reliably.

The X3 you can flash from the HD I believe. Upload, Find, Flash. So downloading from web/installing would not be an issueNeOnRaBbIt said:

Having a program auto check for a new version (Especially when Xecuter isnt the only bios releaser) would most likely not work.. as the site it checks with would get closed down within a matter of minutes (Or maybe not so soon)

It isn't an FTP server on IRC. Those are two totally different services. Xbins merely uses their IRC channel to create temporary access usernames for people.
It's an FTP server located on IRC. You get to it by IRC... and AFAIK, there is no other way. Point is... if it was just a simple website listing "here are my FTP details" I'm pretty sure it would be taken down momenatrily. However, since it's on IRC.... IRC seems to have less interest in the Authorities. Just like they dont have much interest in Newsgroups. I'm sure a bios is not exactly one of the top priority things that microsoft is going after.... So I doubt they'd spend much time getting supenas/Ect to shut down the FTP / IRC chan. If it was on a Webpage however... A simple E-mail to the host, threatning legal action... will most likely cause in the webpage to be down, As it's not like a torrent. The reason Torrents staid open is because no server hosted the files, they hosted a link on where to get the file. In order for there to be a direct Bios upgrade feature.... A server (Which a server in Spain... UK... Japan...anywhere) Hosting the file... would be shut down, or everyone would run to some country which simply allows movie piracy.. and host movies on webpages, and not worry. Obviously... this isn't the case. It doesn't matter... it's kind of a useless argument. You're not gonig to see a direct link for it to be downloaded. If Xecuter wanted it hosted on a site, I'm sure he'd start it being hosted on his MAIN webpage, then think about updating it. But I'm sure he doesn't want the un-necessary attention to his webpage...
