How is my post considered whining, please elaborate? All I stated was what idea/feature I would like to see in the new release. Not once did I ever complain about it not being released.

A little paranoid aren't you? Why do you think the whining comment was directed at you? Plenty of whining in the other posts in this thread.

BUT ... why is everyone so hung up on defragging the Xbox HDD lately? How many changes are you making to the software to cause it to defrag? Game saves are stored in the relatively small E: partition, and only get accessed at games start/finish, so thats not really affecting performance. Maybe adding/removing a bunch of games or MP3s might have some effect, but even then its a stretch.

I agree - you dont get a defrag option on a rewritable cd or dvd and I have never heard anyone moan about that. Its only worth doing if you are copying and deleting files all day, every day, like on a pc. once the image of a game (or film, or mp3) is coppied to your drive, it just stays there and gets read, the files do not get moved around the hard drive.

the problem of defragging is, that when there's a bug in a defragger a lot af data could be lost or damaged. so no one will attempt to make a defragger.

imagine when someone would do an affort to release a defragger and a lot of people would loss a lot of data. then there would be a lot of whining.

All I ever wanted to do was copy Xbox games I rented from Blockbuster... the 1959 bios allows me to do that. I don't see what the big hype about the new bios is... yeah it looks a lot better, but I personally don't care about looks... I care about performance. The X3 with 1959 bios performs every task I could ever want... except for copying games directly to the hard drive, but there are apps that can do that.

I'm not really worried about the C or E drive being Fragmented. It's the F Drive I'd like to defrag. I do copy movies, music, games, emus/roms... etc to the HD alot... having a fragmented HD decreases my transfer speed when FTPing to and from the XBOX. To bad they wasn't a way to port and already good Defragging program to the XBOX, but you'd probly need the Source Code for that. Doesn't the XBOX use a slightly different NTFS type of file system. Anyways, that's the reason I want a defragger for my xbox.

Sektor, we don't need to know about your illegal activities. I'd suggest you use words like "backup" in the future and drop the Blockbuster.

Sektor, copying Xbox games that you get from blockbuster is illegal.

Stop it now.

Back on topic: new bios

I just read a post with xecuter saying there will be a new form of output. Any speculation?

Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC)
Integrated Computing Systems (ICS)

So XASC = Xbox Advanced Simulation and Computing and
XICS = Xbox Integrated Computing Systems

No not really ;)

My 2 cents

XICS = Xecuter Interpreter Code System
XASC = Xecuter Auto System Control
