I am new to the XBox modding community, but recently purchased a modd'd box. Works great with the backups that came with it.

Now I am venturing into burning my own disks. Couple things I have learned and a question.

I have learned that I need Kreon 1.0 flashed samsung drive to copy games, correct?

Also, I had a dual layer external dvd burner that was a sort of 1st generation model. I have a feeling that drive is a little outdated, as it is an off brand name.

I purchased this drive today http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8692514&productCategoryId=abcat0504007&type=product&tab=1&id=1198286609341#productdetail

What is everyone's opinion on this drive?

In order to easily dump games in one click, yes. They are still readily available on Ebay for around $50. The Textbook 2008 tutorial (in the Downloads section) covers backing up games and burning them.

As for the burner, that should work fine as Pioneer burners are known to work well for 360 games. I have the Pioneer 112D internal drive myself and it works great.

Cool. I have one on order, should be here soon.

I guess my last question relates to Verbatim vs. Memorex media, but I see that it has been discussed many times over.

I guess I will start with Memorex (cheapest) and then move to the Verbatim should that not work.

My advice is go with Verbatim from the start, Memorex are crap and known to be hit and miss. There's a thread towards the top of this forum right now about Memorex causing read problems. The same thing happened to Textbook recently with them. They might be a few dollars cheaper but what happens when only half of them work or they degrade quickly and stop working? Then you have to buy Verbatim anyway and the money spent on Memorex is wasted. ;)

Yea. Well I managed to get my first backup done last night and it works perfectly.

I was having problems before, but it was the burner. Burner quality seems to be very important.

Thanks again for the help.
